Well last night was Rich's last night in town. I was at his place to start off the day and watched the Vikes drop their first loss of the season. I guess they didn't air the 49ers/Cards game, but the fuckin Niners blew it overtime anyways so I didn't care. Today also turned into a major workout day. I helped Rich and his family move in a new fridge in his place. Had to detach the doors to it in order to fit it thru, tight squeeze it was.
Then when I thought the physical stuff was over for the day, my dad called and wanted me to come over and help put up some rafters on this new garage he's building. He said it'd take just an hour me and him, well thankfully Rich offered to come and help in return for me helpin with the fridge. Even with all three of us, it took us about 4 hours, and what an experience it was. My dad was guiding the middle of the beams and Rich and I were climbing up the ladders nailing the rafters in, 1 by 1, all 29 of them. Not really all that physical, but still a workout nonetheless. Dad treated us to Buffalo Wild Wings afterwards and we filled ourselves silly.
And that was probably the last night hanging out with my best bud since the 7th grade before he ships off for the Navy tomorrow afternoon. He gave me his copy of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic as a kind of a farewell gift. I will miss him most indeed. He was my main pal and we gamed it up in so many different titles. All the way back from Madden '97 on Genesis, Hangtime on SNES, damn near every wrestling game on N64, Madden 2001, 2003, and 2004. NBA & NFL 2K, 2K1, 2K3, and ESPN 2K4 editions. I've been meaning to post all our old win-loss records I can find, one day I will soon, probably on my upcoming I big break I'll talk about in a lil bit. He said once he's done with boot camp in about 6 weeks he'll be in town to visit right around Christmas. I guess now I'll have to settle on hanging with Chris a bit more, and playing more and more endless rounds of Tiger Woods PGA Tour with Corey & Carlos. I dunno if I'll hang out with Rich's friends that much....AJ, Ray, Jarrett, Kevin, Rocket, and Justin. Probably will only run across Rocket and AJ, and maybe Jarrett every once in awhile.
In other random ramblings, I picked up that Xbox Music Mixer today, with my Best Buy bucks it got knocked down to $35. I made sure to cancel my Best Buy order. I briefly tried it out....I like the slide show feature so far, and Karaoke is pretty fun but you really gotta speak loud into that mic for it to record yer voice.
I have been winning like mad in the instant Mountain Dew win games. This past week I got 5 buy one get one free caps. Before I was lucky if I even got 2 a month. Too bad it is just not get one free anymore. I remember in my senior year of high school...shit it started 3 years ago....me and two old buddies would have the same free hour and we had open campus at our high school. So we drove around all hour, and drove to the college campus where 20oz bottles of Dew were just 50 cents! For a couple weeks straight I was on a streak of nailing free bottles like mad. My 5 win caps this week has been my longest since then.
I just finished up recently watchihng this NFL DVD set titled "Inside the Vault: 1960-1970" and on the back it said all this history of the NFL and AFL ending up merging together. So I thought it would be this cool documentary on NFL history touching on the feud and an in-depth analysis of the merger. Guess I was wrong...it was moreover 90% based on the history of NFL Films, the group responsible for putting together highlight packages and whatnot. And the thing mostly talked about how the filming was done and filming evolved, yadda yadda, and the thing was soley aimed at appealing to filmographers for the most part. I got bored with it easily. There were little tidbits about the NFL and AFL in the old days that I enjoyed, but it just got so damn boring about them talking about the freaking filming process all the time. Grrrrr gimme my highlight packages dammit!!!
Well, tonight I start my big long work week, where I work 8 out of the next 9 days. All are 10 hour shifts from 8:30pm-7am. My only day off is Halloween thankfully, and I already got it planned to hang with my family that day (but I really should be getting sloppy drunk). But after that 9th day, it'll be a huuuge 5 day break for me which will be well deserved. Allrighty, well thats all from me now. I bet you guys never heard me ramble like that before ;)
Latez!
