Has been a crazy week, wish I knew how to do that LJ feature where people divide up long posts by having links to page anchors, but I can't find it, must be a paid user feature I'm assuming.
The Week
Work week went by fairly quick, should be our last week of major resetting and from now through X-Mas we'll be workin on helping the main overnight team stock product. Just glad setting is over, as around this time last year, I was pretty burnt out planogramming, so now this will be a nice little change of pace. On Thursday Bob & Summer had a birthday party for McKayla. Her first. That went by pretty nice. I called the hospital during the week too and finally made an appointment for a checkup, figured I may as well make use of this insurance while I have it. It's been over three years since I've been to the hospital, figured it was about time to pay a visit.
Back to....college?
Yes, I finally stopped what ended up to be a 3 1/2 year vacation between high school and college as I submittied my registration form for enrollment and transcript of my HS grades to our local University. I regret putting it off for so long, guess two main factors for it was I finally actually feel like attending, and I didn't wanna be in debt up my butt in student loans, but I have come to terms and will accept all the crummy bills that come my way. I'm assuming I should get in since I'm local and all, just gotta wait a week or two for it to come in the mail to make it official. Hopefully, I'll be back in school this coming January.
Farewell.....fast food, everclear, wrestlers
I drove by my old employer, Hardee's to grab a quick snack yesterday, and saw a note saying they just closed at the end of last month. Not that I'm gonna miss it that much, just had a lotta awkward memories there from it being my first job and working nearly 3 years threre.
A couple of days ago I picked up Everclear's new 'best of' album and my buddy Corey nailed it on the mark a while back when he told me 'When a band releases a greatest hits record then they're pretty much done.' And yes Craig and Greg left the band to pursue other music endeavors. Art still has control over the Everclear name however and will continue to use it with a newly reformed band. The actual record itself I have mixed feelings on. First off, the tracks are not in chronological order as is the case with most Best of albums. You think EC would follow the route of Pantera and Rob Zombie and package in a DVD with all their videos as a nice bonus. Finally, I thought some of his inclusions on the record were unneeded like the first "Songs form an American Move" and the closing to it too. It's still a fine collection of songs, but I wish there were a couple more of my old favorites on there like "The Swing" "My Genius Hand" their cover for "American Girl" and most importantly, "Heartspark Dollar Sign" Too bad to see them go
Also heard how 10 WWE Superstars got canned this week, just a damn shame for them to lose their job for no real reason. Here's the list of casualties: Chuck Palumbo, Rico, Rodney Mack, Jazz, Nidia, Gail Kim, Test, Johnny "The Bull" Stamboli, and Billy Gunn. Most of these guys were undercard talent that were used on B-level shows like Heat and Smackdown and rarely got airtime on national tv. I hear the WWE is trying to bring a lot of new talent in to replace the older guys who can't draw anymore.
A couple of these releases surprised me, like Rico was actually in some decent storylines and over with the crowd right before he got the boot. And I do not understand releasing Nidia at all since they invested so much into her after she won the first Tough Enough (bad timing too since the fourth one is going on right now), and was actually turning out to be a great singles competitor to boot.
Then there was Billy Gunn which I was kind of surprised at since he was with the company for 11 consecutive years and I thought he must of had some clout or something with the company. Test was a big shocker too since he was in the middle of recuperating from a major neck injury. WWE never let any of its other several superstars released when they had that same injury and was out for over a year recovering (Stone Cold, Edge, Rhyno, Holly, Lita, Scotty 2 Hotty).
But as far as the other 6, they seemed all appropriate for the release. Prolly the best news out of all of this is TNA will have some surprise guest on their first monthly 3 hour PPV, Victory Road this Sunday.
The (shortened) Weekend
I have a short 2-day weekend due to the new holiday hours, but things should pick up pretty soon. On Thursday, Chris and I went to Best Buy and I almost walked outta there without buying something (a goal like to have of mine) but then I saw the pair of Hot Shots titles on DVD for only $5.99 each. I loved those classic spoofs, so now I got them forever. I also picked up a much-needed new keyboard for my PC, as my old one had so much gunk building up inbetween the keys that it was utterly sick.
My sleep schedule has been way off and on today, so excuse whatever grammar/spellin errors you see. On Saturday I went to a UND football game (3rd one so far this season) with my Aunt because she had a spare ticket. #15 UND trounced over #7 South Dakota by a score of 41-21 in the end. They were up big 41-14 with 7 mins left in fourth quarter so I jetted early to avoid traffic. This awesome win was enough to launch the Sioux into the D2 playoffs that start up this weekend. Shortly after the game, I went over to Carlos's, and him, Corey and I all played Texas Hold 'em and Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005 on GCN. Pretty fun overall, tho the menu setup looks like a complete pain in butt.
Latest gaming
Doing a lot of 24/7 in ESPN NBA 2K5, gotta make sure my attributes dont drop now. Other than that I've mostly been playing THUG2, Eve of Destruction, the new Smackdown vs. RAW and the new Leisure Suite Larry.
The Smackdown stuff isn't anything special, new online play is the biggest addition, but it doesn't have and real extra game modes to keep playing it like I do with the split screen play. I'm actually enjoying the style of the new LSL game. The voice acting is top-notch, same with the cariactur-ish character models. The only minigame that pisses me off at the moment is the ripoff of Root Beer Tapper. That one gets damn near impossible to complete. But early impressions are that I really like this game. I also popped in Wizardry8 for PC again for the first time in a while, same good 'ol addicting RPG lovin fun. Got in a huge battle, lost two of my dudes in my party, but i loved all the extra expeience my party gained so I decided to go to the temple in Arnika and sell almost al my unused items just so I had enough money to ressurect my fallen comrades. If you like old school RPG's, than Wiz8 is easily the way to go.
NFL Preview...?
Nope, but I will predict the Niners will prolly lose again to the Seahawks like how they got crushed before. I'll be back on Tuesday with a full fantasy update. Latez!
