Wrapped up my two day weekend, my work wanted me to come in on both of my days off, saying overtime is approved, but I desperately needed these days off, as my last day at work I was practically a zombie.

Not too bad of a weekend, on Saturday I woke up and watch the Sioux beat Grand Valley State to advance to the semi-finals of the NCAA Division 2 football playoffs. Very big win for us since it was Grand Valley who beat us in the championship game last year. After the game I went over to my folks as they were holding a baby shower for my sister Jane. Ya, I thought Baby Shower's were a female only thing, and only for their first kid to boot, but I guess my sister loves to get spoiled with gift. My mom was really hesitant on holding it for her as it cost her $300 to throw the whole thing (gifts, decorations, food, etc), and she wasn't going to until Jane threw a big fit about it. Weird thing is, her husband loved the baby shower and had a blast at it with all the ultra-cheesy games and all, I found it very puzzling since I thought he hated doing girly-stuff with his wife.

After the shower I went to hang out with Chris. I got a call from Rich a couple days earlier and he asked a favor of me to go to his parents place and get his old PC and uninstall all the parts out of it and ship them to him down in Cali so he can replace the crappy parts of his current PC with them. So Chris and I gutted the thing out and got all the parts bubble wrapped it all so I can get it all ready to be shipped.

After all that fun stuff was done, we watched a couple flicks, Vin Diesel's pair of sci-fi flicks, Pitch Black, and The Chronicles of Riddick. I liked both of them probably, Pitch Black a little more. Pitch Black was more of a survival horror film to me much like the Alien movies, minus the cheesy humor and one-liners. Very good and suspensful. Chronicles of Riddick made the series more action oriented, yet not in the incredibly bad way like XXX did. It left a couple of holes open in the plotlines, and it was a little hard to follow everything as a result (I hear the anime DVD and Xbox game fill in a lot of those gaps however, but I've yet to view them). The ending indicated that there is more things to come, but I hear Riddick is the first film of a trilogy set for the series. Other than some minor shortcomings here and there, I like the series thus far, though I like the atmosphere and tone Pitch Black was set in more, and Chronicles of Riddick seemed a bit too far fetched for me initially, I ended up giving it my seal of approval by the end.

After the Vin Diesel film fest, Chris showed me Simpsons: Hit and Run, and it looked a bit better than what I originally thought. I dig all the oodles of references to the tv show, but I wish the game wouldn't of played it so safe by "hitching" a ride as a passenger instead of commandeering them like in GTA. Regardless, it still looked like a damn good Simpsons game to me, and I think I'll end up purchasing it since it's already $20.

Sunday was spent watching football. First saw the Vikes do a good job knocking out the Jaguars. Moss looked a little shaky coming back, but he still managed to make a few big plays. I was ecstatic that Brooks Bollinger got his first regular season NFL action, if only for two series to replace a temporarily injured Quincy Carter. He didn't make any major mistakes, and went 5/9 for 60 yards. Then it was on to see my 49ers get the unfortunate honor of being dubbed the worst team in the NFL by losing to the Dolphins. I think this is the first time I actually enjoyed rooting for the 49ers defense more than their weak offense. The defense did a good job shutting down Miami for the most part, including a great fumble recovery runback for a TD, however SanFran's offense allowed the exact same thing when Rattay fumbled in the endzone. The 49ers offensive line was horrendous as they allowed 8 sacks. I actually enjoyed the announcers ripping on the team more than Miami humiliating them. "If there was ever a way to get these guys to go and practive over in NFL Europe, make sure to let us know."

After the game I picked up Steve to hang out with, and after playing a couple rounds of Smackdown vs RAW and Halo 2 with him, I let him surf on my PC as usual so he could burn a couple CDs for his friend. Then he went and played Xbox Live by himself online in NHL & NBA 2K5 for 3 or 4 straight hours before I kicked him off not to long ago at 4am and dropped him off at home. "But I wanted to play more!" Blah. Sorry dude, I don't want to spend the last couple of hours on my last day off watching you play my Xbox. I usually am like that anyways, if I have a weeking that only consists of me running around with little to no spare time for myself I end up going into the work week pretty tense and unrelaxed. I don't know if any of you get like that, but that's how I am.

Besides, I got a Seinfeld DVD set that's waiting to be watched........peace!
