Howdy ho, my four day vacation is over and I'm already one day into the work week. Vacation was ok overall. Spent practically one whole day sleeping. Did a bit of Christmas shopping with Dad. Worked a few shifts at the game store. Watched a bit of Season 3 of Family Guy, and the finished the first disc of the first volume of the Seinfeld DVDs.
On one day I visited my friend Steve at work......for about 6 hours. He's a overnight auditor at one of the hotel's in town. Only work he tells me he does is little bits of paperwork, prepping up breakfast for the morning, and checking in the few guests that come in during that time period. Says he only averages about 2 hours of work a night, and his boss lets him bring his PS2 in to play games or whatever on. So I swung by on one of my days off and was there for several hours and we watched the Monday Night Wars DVD and a few episodes of Family Guy while getting all the free crummy hotel food I want...mmmmm
Friday Chris spent the night, Joey came over for a little while too. We played some Halo 2 online for awhile. Watched Spider-Man 2 for the first time, which I have to admit is a bit better than the first, but that still isn't saying much. I loathed the first movie, but this time Toby McGuire actually looks like he gives a damn about the role and decides to finally act, part of the time that is. I like DockOck as a villain in here moreso than Green Goblin, lots of interesting backstory going on. I'll go about 7.5/10 on Spidey 2 vs. my 5.5 rating on the first film. Oh yeah, Peter Parker's neighbor's daughter is freaking hot, he shoulda banged her ;)
Right before I went to work, I went to the theatre and saw Ocean's 12 with Ann & Dad. I didn't think they would've been able to top 11's efforts since I loved that film so much, but they surprised me again. And if you thought the first one was hard to follow the first time around, just wait until this one. Lots of subtle clues and hints dropped that are very hard to catch up on, even with the loads of explanation they give towards the end. There's some pretty outrageous cameos and other plot twists you would have never imagined in here. Damn near perfect, only minor gripe I had was I thought the opening was a little weak and too dragged out to catch my attention from the getgo. Other than that, awesomeness. Go out and see this now!! 9.75/10
I was surprised from the little bits of instant feedback I got from my Lemony Snicket review a few days back. ASchultz gave it a good nod which caught me off guard. Then Joe and Chris told me they read it and thought it was pretty good too before I even got a chance to do my regular shilling of my work to them. To my disappointment it didn't get the slightest mention in that 12/8 RotD, but judging by the creator's negative tone, I didn't think it would have fared that well. Y'know I'm fine with my reviews as they are right now, I try to aim for a more professional look ala Gamespot, trying to focus my reviews on making them more informative with little bits of humor sporadically thrown about than trying to tell a story only a couple dozen people would get a joy out of reading. As I said before, I usually like my reviews to be aimed at the audience the game is directed for, because 9/10 times that's probably the type of person who is going to be reading the review. Just my two cents on the matter.
Speaking of GameFAQs, I upgraded my account to that new universal system CjayC is plugging, but now I can't login to GameFAQs. I never got a confirmation email when I upgraded and when I try to login it says I need to click on a link on the confirmation email. But I don't have one, so there's another retrieve confirmation email form, I fill that out with the correct info and I get an odd "enter value" message. If I enter in an incorrect password, I get an "incorrect email/password" message. I have no idea whats going on, if someone knows please post comment letting me know. Thanks!
Tiz all for today, latez!
