Just wrapped up the Christmas weekend here, went by really well, except for starting off on a downnote. Was a big downer to learn former Super Bowl winner and surefire hall-of-famer, Reggie White passed away at the untimely age of 43. In case you never heard of him, from 1986-1998 he was one of the most feared defensivemen in the NFL. Let's just forget about his 2000 season with the Panthers. He's pretty much the modern day version of Brian Urlacher and Ray Lewis. Looks like he was a well liked star in the NFL as the many ESPN personalities from NFL Countdown and Primetime look very down and talked about many great memories they had with him. My sincere condolences, you will be missed Reggie.

Shortly before the days gridiron games kicked off, I met up with Corey at the Ground Round. It righteously kicked my ass, as I had one hell of a steak dinner, and some awesome wings for appetizers, along with a few brews. I laughed in enjoyment as Eli's Giants lost to the Bengals, even though it was by just one point. I'm still pissed they pulled Warner when the Giants still had a winning record, they could've won their division by now I felt. The Colts/Chargers game was a nailbiter to the finish. What at once looked like a surefire win for the Chargers as Peyton made mistake after mistake, somehow the Colts came back and forced the game into an overtime win for them. Oh yeah, and Peyton Manning managed to beat Dan Marino's single-season TD passing record in the whole ordeal too. Thought it was classy on how he broke the record how he immediately tried to calm the stadium down from the celebration and focus on the two point conversion to tie the game. The game Corey and I were most focused on however was the Saints/Falcons game and how the Saints easily managed to contain a good victory against the Vick-less Falcons. Saints and Panthers are pretty much the Wild Card leaders in the horrendous NFC right now, and they happen to pair off against each other in final week of regular season play next week. Winner is practically guarenteed to go the playoffs. I'm going to try to forget about the 49ers humiliating 41-7 loss to the Bills today. The Dorse was horrendous and eventually got injured and replace by the even more weaker Cody Pickett. Oh well, at least Bledsoe beat him. I wouldn't mind him winning the big one, even though he already won one with the Pats, it was mostly Tom Brady running the show in that victory.

While listening to the Niners awful defeat, I watched most of "3" on ESPN. Considerably a lot better than their "Hustle" a couple months prior. The dude who played Earnheardt did a superb job to my surprise for a made-for-TV movie. Thought they rushed through his career a bit, but it was understandable since there was so much to cover. Only other qualm was with the ending, but it was fitting to say the least, just was hoping for a little more focus on all the other crazy happening in that fatefull last race of his and aftermath after the ending to put a sense of true closure to the film. Surprised the DVD is out already with an equally good amount of extras, I'm gonna have to order it. I already got Necessary Roughness and Swingers coming to me (thanks for persuading me to get it Kubryk! I'm expecting to enjoy it immensely), so I should have a bit of new flicks to watch soon.

After "3" Joe and Steve came over. Played some Halo 2 online for awhile with Rocket and Joe's friend Jake. One of Joe's gifts for Christmas was a DVD called "Sour Grapes" that Joe and I never heard of before. I guess my mom said she picked out a discount DVD at complete randomess as a extra gift for Joe. Sour Grapes is a comedy about a doctor and his cousin go out gambling at a casino, and when the rich doctor lones his cousin two quarters to play a spin on a slot and wins the jackpot, a lot of unexpected twists ensue from his cousin not giving the Doc what he feels he deserves of his share of the money. This movie reminds me a lot of Seinfeld as a lot of the dialogue and the delivery of it is almost what you would expect out of a typical episode of the NBC classic. The only actor I recognized from here was Orlando Jones in what looked to be an early part of his career as he portrayed a bum who caught a lot of lucky breaks. Overall I enjoyed the movie greatly, my only minor gripes are there were a few parts that were quite predictable and a few added little segments of the film that I thought were foreshadowing to something major, but eventually led to nothing. I'll go as high as 9/10 for it and maybe after a few months of perspective on it I might have to consider it on my top comedies of all time list.

That wraps up my holiday weekend, hope you all enjoyed yours! Have a safe rest of 2004!
