This weekend is wrapped up, and boy was it crazy. My freaking cold got the best of me throughout most of it. I still have it though, but not as bad as it was for most of days off. I slept in real late about 7pm Friday evening. Unfortunately there was one hell of a blizzard going on outside, and combined with my awful cold I said 'screw it' and stayed inside all day. Didn't really do anything too exciting, just played some NBA2K5, and Halo 2, and goofed around online all night.
Saturday I still felt like shit, so I was at home again for most of the day, this time mostly playing Halo 2 all day long. I was surprised as hell when I won my first Rumble Pit game by a decent 6 point margin. I guess my bungie.net stat sheet said it is my second victory, but I don't even remember my first one. Anywho, if you're curious about how well of a player I am in Halo 2, click here for a link to my stats. Bungie has a surprisingly robust stat tracking system as you can see above from my first link. They track the amount of kills, medals, and all those other little stats from each and every single game played. They must have at least a few million games logged in already.
Saturday was when my sleep schedule started to get really fucked up too. Just a couple hours into my sleep, Mormans stopped by my place and woke me up so they could shill their bible to me. I politely told them to leave, but the damage was done and I couldn't go back to sleep. So as I stated above I stayed up playing Halo 2 and eventually passed out for another six hours until 6am Sunday while watching the commentary track on Jersey Girl. Sunday I felt a hair better, but still pretty much like crap overall. Watched the Falcons and and Steelers get spanked. Sorry folks, the Michael Vick experience is closed for repairs. Roethlisberger just looked sloppy for the most part, especially after teasing a couple comebacks. So the Super Bowl match-up is what almost all the critics predicted at the beginning of the season.
I actually ended up pasing out yet again near the end of the Steelers/Pats game around 8pm or so until 3 this morning. I'll prolly be in horrible shape when I go into work tonight. I did finally try out Katamari Damacy by the way, and I was pleasantly surprised. Unique concept to say the least, I assembled three stars so far. Have no idea how much is left. I played that until it was time for class. I shocked myself by getting a 93% on my first test, I think that's the first time I ever got an A on a Math test. In High School I think I did no better than a B. After got done I got a call from Steve who wanted a ride from work. I'm getting worried about him as I thinking he's turning into sponge-status on me by calling for a lot of favors lately, but this time he actually offered to by me some quick breakfast from McDicks for the ride, so I agreed. Btw, their new Steak-Bagel sandwich might possibly be the best fast food breakfast sandwich of all time. It is that damn good! The fried onions add a boatload of flavor!
-I've been checking out a bit of new machinimas lately aside from my regular viewing of redvsblue. I went to machinima.com that has profiles up for all major machinimas out on the net and I browsed around at their other top shows. The Anachronix one is very well produced. I'm unfamiliar with the game they produced it with, but it looks like a sci-fi version of Morrowind if I had to relate it to something. They must of spent forever matching the lipsynching. It reminds me of the Riddick films. Then there's this one shot, Counter-strike spoof, where it details a clan of noobs trying to match-up against a clan of elites, which all results in some hilarious antics and quotes. ("They know how to throw grenades!").
I saw this other spoof of redvsblue called "Sponsorsvsfreeloaders" that started off weak with some horrible voice acting, and a not so thrilling plot, but in the later episodes things start to get a hair interesting with some memorable spots here and there, but still lots of crummy voice acting to suffer through. Then there's this other one "Consanguinity" which is another well produced one about vampires with a shockingly good musical score, whether or not it is original is beyond me, but I doubt it. It uses the Neverwinter Nights engine for its animation, but the film is in dire need of voice acting, its awesome plot just cannot suffice with subtitles.
-Before I end this already long entry I just wanted to comment on the EA's latest exclusive licensing deals they nabbed up for Arena Football and the ESPN license. Both of these are actually great grabs for EA, business wise, but I only support them in their AFL venture. The AFL has been in long need of a sim of their interesting modification of indoor football, and this next game by EA will be their first one for the AFL in 5 years since Midway's Blitz spinoff representation of it. The ESPN deal I am ticked about, EA shouldn't of snuck and took the license away from Sega like that.
On the flip side, EA's sports titles were severely lacking presentation so maybe this is the thing they need to give their games that right amount of flair for an authentic representation of each sport. That is if they use the license properly, which Konami couldn't for the most part in most of their disastrous ESPN sports games they released in 2001. Sega's 2K titles already had a modest presentation factor to them before they nabbed the ESPN license back, so even though this is a huge blow to them, I have confidence they'll recover.
That wraps it up for this entry.....sorry to overwhelm all of ya again. If anyone's up for some online Halo 2, Crash 'n Burn, or ESPN sports games, my gamertag is Gruel. Latez!
