Just wrapped up another weekend, and it went by pretty damn good. On Friday I saw a Sevendust concert with Corey that also featured Skindred opening. Damn good concert as I moshed out bigtime. Met one of the other openers, Soundevice, after the show and got their album signed. It was probably one of the most energetic concerts I've ever been too, and I had a blast. Soundevice was the first openers, and they're pretty much an alternative-rock band. They played for about 20 minutes, and are probably one of the better no-name openers I have ever heard, I liked their sound and even the rest of the crown was starting to get into their stuff into. It was mighty cool to get their album signed by them after the show. Next up was Bobbaflex, an awesome metal band that Corey told me reminded him as a combination of Slipknow and System of a Down. Nobody heard of these dudes before they hit that stage, and after their 30-minute set or so they had the crown going nuts, moshin and even bodysurfin. They have one crazy as hell guitarist too. They say they have an album comin out nationwide in June, and I think they're going to be big, mark my words.
I wasn't familiar with Skindred before, but I guess they must be known because the crowd went nuts for him right from the start, even with their weird quasi-Star Wars intro the the lead Jamaican singer brought the rest of the band out to. They really got the crowd going further, and that was right when I started to get into moshing and going wild. By the time Sevendust took the stage, the crown was all riled up, and for a moment I didn't know if Sevendust could deliver as I wasn't too familiar with their stuff and didn't think they were all that heavy. But boy was I wrong. They rocked the place out, and more moshing and hoisting up bodysurfers was to be had. I musta tossed up five of them at least, it was fun too until one of their feet bounced off my head. I can still feel the scare :( All in all, one helluva show, even though I payed only $26 for my ticket, I felt like I got at least $50 worth of entertainment, if not more.
Saturday was another active day as I spent most of it watching the draft and drinking beer with Corey and Steve. They had this NFL Draft drinking game we played for a good amount of time. After the draft we played some NFL 2K5 for awhile, I lost my initial round to Steve again, guess I just don't havve that touch. We played a lil bit of WM21 afterwards too, I know lots of people are bashing that game, I haven't played it that much to form an opinion yet, but I did notice some glitches here and there right from the getgo, and the fact the presentation sucked-ass too when compared to RAW 2 and even Day of Reckoning. Saw my older brother's rommate play in his band at a bar later that night and mello'd out a bit while having some drinks with some friends for awhile. Chris and Mike had me taking these crazy shots which were starting to get me buzzing, nasty, but hey I won't pass up on some free alcohol.
Sunday was a lil less active, grabbed some Chinese with Chris, Mike, and my sister. Afterwards Chris and I watched the Blue Collar Comedy Tour DVD. Played some multiplayer PSP with Lumines and Wipeout, and then some of the co-op missions in Chaos Theory, I can't believe it I'm actually liking that little stealth game now. I just submitted my review, look for a link of it and some more in-depth impressions of WM21 in my next LJ update. Lumines is still an awesome cracked out puzzler that I highly recommend. I still want to try out Mercury too, looks a lot like the legendary Marble Madness. At Target I probably made a grave mistake by picking up Backyard Wrestling 2, I heard many shitty things about it, but I figured it couldn't be too bad at only $20, doesn't hurt to get it on my highlights tape either, and some things you just have to buy to see how crummy they are. Too bad I already blew damn near all of my paycheck in just 3 days. But still, all in all, another great weekend for me. Feels good when I make the most out of them.
