I know it has been a while since my last entry, but man have I been busy lately. Where should I start.....sure the weekend why not.
On Friday I stayed for a long time after I got off work and grabbed a bit to eat with Joe and Chris at Culver's. Afterwards, Joe and I saw that '40 Year Old Virgin' film. I was expecting some stupid cheesy comedy like 'White Chicks' but it ended up being a lot better than I anticipated. I got home around 4pm and passed out for a few hours before deciding that I'd have some fun my last weekend before school started up. So around 10pm or so I go to Dagwoods and watch the last of the Vikings and Jets game. The scene there wasn't as lively as I thought it would be so I went and got Steve right before he got off work and both of us went to Bucs. We got a couple of pitchers of brew there and hanged there until it closed at 1am (starting in a month and a half it'll be 2am, so huzzah)
Saturday was a pretty busy day too. Chris wanted to shop around a few stores and he caught me off guard by buying me 'Be Cool' for driving him around all day. Dad cooked up a nice mean pot roast he invited me over for, and later Joe and I did a Halo 2 LAN party with the software etc. guys. It has been a few months since we did that, and I had a really good time with it. The manager says I can come back and work the season for him again starting in October for the rest of the year like I did last season. If I do that'd really help getting that nice of a discount on Xbox 360 games that will prolly cost an arm and a leg. After the LAN, Joe and I headed back to my apartment and watched Be Cool. I think Vince Vaughn and The Rock stole the show in that film. I liked it a lot and thought it was a lot better than what the reviews made it out to be, then again I have never seen Get Shorty so I don't know how to compare it.
On Sunday I was hellbent on seeing Summerslam at all costs, but couldn't find anyone to come over and watch it with me. I was on the verge of ordering it and watching it by myself until I found out that Joe's friend Jake was gonna watch it with a bunch of friends and I was able to join him. It felt a little odd watching Summerslam with a bunch of 16 and 17 year olds, but it saved me $45 so its all cool. As for the PPV itself, the first half completely blew. OJ and Benoit was a 30 second joke. Matt Hardy and Edge was a stupid punch-kick brawl that didn't even deserve to be on the PPV. And while the Eddy/Rey match had some pretty cool spots, the stupid interference from Rey's kid, and Eddy's wife ruined it. Angle/Eugene was allright for what it was, but the match was prolly better suited more for RAW then anything else.
Thankfully things picked up a bit in the second half. JBL/Batista wasn't as dragged out as I thought it would be and had some pretty cool moments, Jericho/Cena had the match of the show and the crowd was really into it too. Finally, Hogan/HBK was kind of what I thought it would be. Hogan obviously looked way too old to be in the ring, but Shawn Michaels made him look like gold with his awesome selling. A lot better than I originally anticipated, but yet again nowhere near a ***** classic. Overall a pretty good show, marred by a painful to watch first half.
On a quick note in other wrestling news, I got my 3-disc Undertaker set in the mail and it looks to have a more impressive list of matches than I thought. I know I'm prolly being too optimistic about it and will prolly fall asleep halfway through it, but at least I tried dammit! RAW was pretty good last Monday too, my fave up-and-comer Chris Masters is getting one helluva push against Shawn Michaels now as he interrupted his opening interview and it looks like the two will square off at the next PPV. I also guess the reason Jericho got 'fired' last Monday was because he wanted to take a few months off to go tour with Fozzy and work on his other projects. I guess he has been wrestling for 6 years straight now with the WWE since he signed in 1999 and hasn't really had any big injuries or anything to get him taken out of action for awhile so this will be his first big break. Good for him. Finally in a few weeks Smackdown will be moving to Friday nights on UPN, pretty shitty timeslot actually but hey I usually tape Smackdown anyways.
I started the work week on Sunday and am now midway through my shitty schedule where I go straight to school from work. I did get my laptop on Moday, and that thing is nice to have around school to kill dead time and write papers. I got a free printer with it but it is in the closet right now as I don't plan to use it since I have one and they never include the damn printer cables with it anyways. I had my first day of class on Tuesday, and I made it through Comp pretty well and we got out a half hour early. Drawing class was next and I didn't feel too great during it as I constantly was on the verge of falling asleep for about a good 20 minutes during class. Same thing during my Algebra class. I like my classroom sizes tho, each class has around 25-30 people compared to the 6-8 I had in my intro to Algebra classes last semester. I dunno how I'm going to do on this sleep pattern with school, hopefully my body is just being rough adapting to this schedule, but if it keeps up I am going to have to switch my hours to try and make it work out for me.
Phew, all caught up, I'll prolly make another dragged out post like this a week from now. Look forward to it dammit! ;)
