Been a while since I updated this thing, this whole week has been kind of dragging along. The whole work week just seemed forever because I was working in softlines for almost the whole week. But it went well for the most part and I seem to be keeping up with most of homework at the Tech allright thusfar. I got my first College Algebra test this Tuesday and I got a feeling I'll prolly pass with a C or so, which I will be pretty happy with. I just wanna get Math over with.
-I hit up Best Buy on Monday as I caught wind that was the first day they were marking down a lot of games to $10 and $5. I ended up picking up Paper Mario and T3: Redemption for $10 each. I almost picked up Scaler and Second Sight both for Xbox and $5 each, but decided to pass. They had a nice selection though of discounted games, I urge you to check yours to see if they still got some.
-Hey all you peeps going back to college might wanna check out this sale at Wally World
-I sold a bunch of old games and movies at Gamestop on Friday and picked up Burnout Revenge and paid off Indigo Prophecy on reserve. Burnout Revenge is just as awesome as before. The main game world tour mode is freaking massively long. I think there is like about over 300 events or so. The races feel a lot different because of that new 'traffic checking' feature. Crash mode is completely redone too, no more power-ups, its all about multiple crashbreakers now. The online is completely revamped too with some Halo 2 like party support and matchmaking. So ya, if you like any of the Burnouts pick Revenge up now.
-I'm finally starting to crack away at my Gamespot's Best of E3 6-disc DVD set. Halfway through now, huzzah. It has a lot of gameplay footage and trailers for over 200 upcoming games, and thus far from what I saw there are a couple of promising games that caught me off guard from what I saw recently. Blitz the League looks like a nice mega-violent version of the old Blitz engine. Saint's Row looks like it has a lot of potential to actually be the first GTA-clone to surpass the quality of GTA. What impressed me a lot and came from out of nowhere is LA Rush. Just go watch some gameplay footage somewhere, the driving looks intense and the graphics too look amazing with all things considered. I might just have to preorder it too and take Midway up on their free Arcade Treasures vol 3 offer with reserve on LA Rush. MAT3 (which is comprised only of racing games)has a lot of gems on there. I was a sucker for Hydro Thunder and Super Off Road, plus it has two older versions of Rush on their too. Anyone else interested in these two titles?
-Its been a while since I commented on the wrestling scene. I'm pretty pumped for TNA's debut on Spike TV starting in the beginning of October. It will be nice to finally have something else to watch other than WWE. On the RAW roster side of things, I am probably in the minority of people who are impressed with Chris Masters push. I am digging his feud with Shawn Michaels, and got a feeling Shawn will make him look nearly as good as he did Hogan at Summerslam. I also like Rob Conway's new primadonna character, which is an odd combination of Mr. Ass and the Big Poppa Pump personas. It is also finally nice to see them pushing the tag team division for the first time in a year or so and I like the new Murdoch & Cade tag team. Hopefully they'll end Rosey & Hurrican'es insanely long near half year tag title reign.
On the Smackdown roster I enjoyed the Friday Night debut. They need to bring back the bullrope match more often, one of the truly underappreciated gimmick matches IMO. Big ups to Eddy for finally beating Rey Rey. Ken Kennedy is AWESOME.....AWESOME. But for the most part I have been disappointed with Smackdown for a quite a while. The cruiserweight division was prolly at its best (for the WWE anyways) with Paul London as champ, and then the WWE goes and bans high-risk/high-flying moves (aka London's 450 splash finisher) and London throws a fit so the WWE makes him lose the strap to career-jobber Nunzio and is jobbing the hell outta London lately. The Eddy/Rey feud has dragged on for far too long (since Wrestlemania) hopefully Eddy's win 9 days ago ended that feud as it looks like they're feuding him with Batista now. On a last note, be on the lookout for Ultimate Warrior's best of DVD coming out this Tuesday, actually more like 'worst of' cuz I saw the trailer for it and it looks like the WWE is making this to forever tarnish the Warrior's career. But it looks interesting nonetheless.
-It has been a good weekend so far. On Friday I went out and joined damn near half of my coworkers at Buffalo Wild Wings this Friday for a going away party for one of my peers. We then went to Bucs for and I was surprised they actually had drink specials on a Friday night. So I musta had 5 bottles of Bud Light ($1.93 a pop, amazingly good bar price :D), then the special ended at 11pm so I decided to jet. Met up with Rich later that night and we gamed it up a bit. He beat me twice in NBA 2K5, but I did manage to beat him in NFL 2K5. We did some Rocky and THPS4 aftwerwards which the latter actually ended up being special because for the first time ever in Tony Hawk I broke a million points with 1,180,000. Of course that is nothing to 4,000,000+ point combo Rich pulled off that same night, but it was a major milestone for me :)
Saturday was pretty good. Hung out with Chris and Joey for most of the day. Played a helluva a lot of the Burnout Revenge, taking turns knocking out stages in World Tour mode. Chris also picked up Burnout Legends for PSP, and that looks to join the ranks of only Lumines to be the only damn good games worth picking up the system for (I'm actually contemplating sell all my PSP stuff to put towards an Xbox 360). Later we watched Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. That ended up being a lot better than what I originally expected. Damn those Brits and their crazy comedies. It is definitely worth checking out if you're in the need for a chuckle.....that should be a good idea for ya.
Phew, I rambled on insanely long again...if you managed to read all this in one sitting that mad props to you!
