Whooo Go Niners! I had no idea the 49ers were going to do that well. I'm looking at my stat tracker and see they're ahead something like 21-8 at the half, and am like 'wow' Of course they almost blew it, but in the end they got an Interception and managed not to fuck up kneeling the ball to close out the game. Big Play Rattay indeed. How about the leader of defense, Bryant Young, over 10 years in the league and he still manages to get 3 sacks in the game. To top it off, no one expected the Rams to lose, and the Seahawks and Cards lost too which makes the 49ers the sole leaders in the NFC West. I know this will be their only week they'll be division leader cuz they're toast next week against the Eagles so I'm enjoying this while it lasts :)
Fuck it, I sat all day Sunday watching football and keeping tabs on the games on my laptop, why not I recap most of the other games? ----ESPN swoosh noise----
-How about that Gus Ferotte? huh, you guys doubting my 8-8 prediction for the Dolphins??? Heck if they keep up dominating playoff-calibur teams like the Broncos like that then their chances at the playoffs will be mighty good.
-Eli's ass got saved by his running backs. C'mon, 10 for 23 with 2 picks? sure he had 2 td throws, but I'll negate those with the picks and just a sloppy performance overall. Warner did decent, with only one pick, and over 200 passing yards, and Larry Fitzgerald got me mega points for my fantasy team so huzzah!!!
-Daunte looked like crap out there. Just so many mistakes, and the sad thing is their defense busted their asses off to hold off the Bucs for most of the first half and the third quarter. Then they just gave up after the sloppy output of the Vikes. Culpepper had what? 2 fumbles, 3 picks? Just unexcusable, and this was at home too. Wuzzat? Are the fans chanting for freaking Brad Johnson to replace Daunte? On that last drive too they dodged too bullets by recovering two fumbles, but their luck ran out when Moe missed that beamer right above him. Kleinny looked good in his return minus that fumble. I feel horrible for Jermaine Wiggins having his 2 receiving td's called back, especially after that bogus offensive pass interference call. Though I gotta give the Bucs credit, rookies Alex Smith (no not SF's Alex) and Cadillac Williams impressed big time.
-I can only give mad props to the Saints for playing their hearts out and winning that nailbiter against the highly projected Panthers. They played this one FOR New Orleans, not for themselves, contracts, money. They earned every freaking point, and I'm glad they won! New America's team indeed.
-Bledsoe and Parcells looked to have one heck of a reunion in their slightly surprising win against the Chargers at San Diego. I have been waiting to see this magic again from Bledsoe for years. Bledsoe-to-Keyshawn looks like it'll be a deadly combo for most of the season.
-Brett Favre what happened? You were never a dome guy I know, but the Lions just walked all over you, and speaking of Walker I'm terribly sorry that your now former #1 target will prolly be out for most of the season.
-I was surprised with the Steelers win, I didn't know what to expect from the Steelers without Staley and Bettis, but now it looks like they have an even better third back (i cant remember the name right now dammit!) who rushed for over 160 yards. That and Big Ben looked impressive throwing the ball too for over 200 yards and two TDs. Way to mature Roethlisberger!
-Pennington, what da hell!!!! 6 fumbles, and your receivers couldn't even catch your good throws? Please put in Brooks Bollinger! Oh ya, Priest Holmes had one helluva rushing TD when he dragged nearly half the Jets defense with him!
well thats about it for my news and views from last night, on one other non football note, it was great to see Andre Aggasi give it his all against the top-seeded Federer in the US Open last night. He surely gave him a run for his money in the third set, especially in that 4-deuce game that Aggasi gave it has all to win. I knew Aggasi was done once he lost that third set, but for Andre to go like he did all week in those 5 set classics at the age of 35, I can only be extremely thankful for him giving us some of the best tennis action I have seen in years.
other than a lot of spectating dominating my weekend I had a helluva game bash night with Rich, who by the way is back in town now for good from the Navy as he just finished early with a medical discharge. We had an allnight game marathon and downed a case of beer in the process. I haven't had such a memorable gaming night in ages, we duked it out in NBA 2K5, Tony Hawk 4 (yes 4, the best one in the series), and Rocky Legends. The highlight me beating Rich in NBA 2K5 four times in a row!! Huzzzah indeed.
thats it for this entry, whoo if you have anything to say about my nfl views, please reply, i always love discussing football
