Hello Everybody! Another lengthy time before an update, I know I am horrible. I have still been busy with the school grind and I have been loaded lately with reviews too. I already got two done since my last update. These ones for Sniper Elite (Xbox) and Evil Dead: Regeneration (PS2). Check em out if ya have some free time and lemme know what ya think. Sniper Elite totally caught me off guard, it was first military action game I enjoyed playing since God knows how long.

-Last weekend was pretty fun. Chris came over and gamed it up with Scott and I. Did a bunch of the new MK: Shaolin Monks together in co-op, and then the standard Halo 2 action. I see they added a new Team Hardcore matchmaking mode that I found pretty fun. Shaolin Monks is a bit better than I expected, lots of cool MK history thrown in and playing through with a friend made the experience that much more fun. On Saturday Joe, Chris, and I saw the new Doom movie....impressions in a little bit. Other than that I spent a whole helluva lot of time playing Sniper Elite campaign co-op with Scott and later rotated a little bit with Joey. The game is addictive I tells ya.

-School isn't going so great. Actually Drawing and Comp are both going well. I think I'm getting a pretty high B, if not low A in comp, and am doing perfect in Drawing with an A I believe. Algebra I am sucking it up pretty bad however now at mid-terms. I failed my last test which dropped my overall grade to a solid D. Thankfully our teacher drops our lowest test score at the end of the year so I must do better now on the rest of them in hopes of at least getting a minimum C.

-I started up seasonal work at Software Etc again last weekend. I am no longer doing stocking but actually on the floor and working the till. Still getting the hang of learning some more of the complex features on the till but I got it down pretty good so far I think. Even though it is minimum wage I enjoy it for the atmosphere and I can actually say I worked at a job I truly had fun at for once.

-It was Corey's last day in town on Monday night. He is now en route to his new home in South Carolina. As a special last night celebration we had one last RAW party at my place and I treated him to Burger Time (which Corey hasn't been to in his 4+ years he has been in Grand Forks). It was a fun night and felt good hanging out with Corey one last time. I wish him the best of luck with him moving on and getting his future goals accomplished.

-I am starting to get hooked on podcasts a lot the past couple of weeks. I don't have an iPod, but a measley 128 meg mp3 player, so I can transfer about 3-5 hours worth of shows on their depending on their size and it helps kill the more lengthy first half of my work shift. Right now I'm subscribing to about 10 or 12 shows. I did a search on Podcast alley and it ranks the highest rated and their rankings are right on the money as I have enjoyed almost all the shows I have been listening to lately.

Popular wrestling journalist, Wade Keller of the Torch newsletter does a good podcast covering the latest happenings in wrestling. Sunday Night Slamcast also does a good job of covering more organizations like Ring of Honor and TNA besides strictly WWE and one of the hosts is an active Indy Wrestler and he has provided lots of interesting insight. wrestlecrap.com has its own podcast and they focus mostly on just riffing on the latest skits that are so bad they're funny-type that have been dominating the wrestling scene a lot lately. I also subscribe to a couple video game related podcasts. One of them is gamespot.com's Hot Seat podcast which just focuses on several major news stories, and Orange Lounge Radio. OLR is an independent podcast and I am totally into all their broadcasts.

I also subscribe to a podcast that surprisingly covers only video game soundtrack remixes. Actually is pretty good too. There is also a podcast I get that is dedicated to just Halo 2 which the latest episode gave me lots of interesting Zanzibar tips I have never thought of lately. Rounding off my list of podcasts is ones that cover the latest happening in the DVD and Comic Book industry. If any of you are into podcasts and want me to provide you with the XML (or whatever it is) links to paste into your podcatcher program of the ones that I described above, just post a comment with your email adress and I'll make sure to hook you up.

-Quickie Movie Reviews

...been a while since I did this so I know I owe it to you guys

Waiting - I thought Waiting was pretty good overall. My only main complaint is that the movie felt too short, and it prolly coulda used another 15, if not 30 minutes. The cast of characters seems very typical to the environment of people I have worked with over my jobs and just so much of the storyline rang a lot of bells for me. So many of the antics adressed in Waiting rang home cause I also use to have worked in the food industy. The film is freaking awesome and I recommend for all of you to see it, especially if you like work-satire type movies like Clerks and Office Space. I'll go about 8 1/2/10 on it.

Doom - I thought it was a pretty good movie by itself, especially considering how bad most videogame based movies are. This is easily one of the few better one. There are some odd tie-ins to the game's story, like everyone turning into the mutants via infection instead of opening a portal from Hell accidentally like in the game. I did think the first half of the movie had some tense and jumpy moments, that caught me off guard a lot, but most of the second half of the movie transitions into more of an action film (but it flowed perfectly for me and made sense) There are some incredibly memorable moments in the game, like when The Rock discovers the 'BFG' and especially the several minute first person part of the movie which was a nice tribute to the game. This is worth checking out at the theatres or at least a weekend rental if you want to hold off until video. 8/10
