Hey Yo, Man did I have a good Thanksgiving. I got off work Thursday morning at 8am. At the end of my shift I got my review and got a decent raise to where I'm not making over $10 an hour, so huzzah for me. Got home and finished getting the place ready and passed out around 10:30am, slept for about 4 hours until 2:30 which was when I got into wake up mode, and around 3:15 my dad came over and started and helping me prep up dinner. Ann, Joe, and Chris all arived around 4pm, and dinner was ready about 4:30pm. I'll be hanging with the other half of the family this Saturday, for part 2 due to zany travel schedules. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday to celebrate, you don't have to worry about buying who a certain gift and worrying what you got, instead all you gotta worry about is having a good converstation and times with your family and friends while having the best meal of the year. I couldn't ask for anything else out of a holiday. That is how everything went yesterday.
I popped in a holiday music CD playing in the background while all 5 of us conversed about work, life, etc. Usually I'm a pretty lousy converstationalist (which Im sure a lot of the GameFAQs board members can vouch for), but I was very active in this one and never felt nervous or shy like I almost always am. When we were done and cleaning up, we were just gonna watch the usual movie together, but Ann brought her acoustic guitar and was stringing away on that for awhile. That is when I remembered I still had Guitar Hero in my closet which I hadn't played since I got it about 3 or 4 weeks ago. I thought 'hey Ann isn't a gamer but maybe she can get into it cuz she actually plays acoustic, and I think Joe can get into it too and my Dad loves Tetris so maybe he'll like this.' I was just hopin for two of the four to semi-enjoy it. They all got around to jamming out the beats, and surprisingly enough they all loved it. Ann and Joey were so into it at one point they were arguing with each other on who gets to use the guitar controller next. My Dad got REALLY into it which suprised me as well, but actually what shocked me the most was Chris getting into it big time. Him and I spent the night taking turns in the career mode. You can see us jammin out on the included guitar controller above.
Chris usually likes his PC resource-happy shooters or hardcore RPGs, I woulda never thought he'd get into a puzzle/rhythm game like this. He liked it so much he ended up buying it the next day today on black friday. Speaking of Black Friday, Chris ended up crashing at my place so we can go and try to catch the sales again. Chris ended up buying about $500 worth of stuff, where I ended up with about $100 thanks to gift cards and discounts. Best Buy had a goliath of a line all the way to the back of their store, we got there about 15 mins before they opened this morning around 4:45 am. I got an Xbox Wireless controll for $9, 24 Season 3 DVD set for $20, and World of Warcraft for $25 (I don't plan on starting my subscription until this summer when I can actually devote some time to the game for once to justify the monthly fees). Chris got another DVD burner, a couple movies I think too, and a portable DVD player that was $70. Interesting thing about the DVD player is that it has AV outputs and Chris said he actually got his Xbox and PS2 to work on it.
Next store up was Target, I had a $40 gift card there so it came in handy and I got GTA and Virtua Tennis both for PSP for $35, another customer and I also snatched the last Family Guy Season 3 DVD set off the shelves that was going for just $18. Chris got a bunch of stuff too, most of which I forget save for also Tennis and Mario Kart DS. We finally ended the marathon at Wally World. Chris got lots of stuff again, and only thing I got was a coffeemaker for freaking $4, thing will prolly break on me in 4 days, but what the hey. After all that fun shoppin I got to do one of my few sporadic S.Etc shifts for a few hours. By the sounds of it, it appears that MS is gonna be taking forever fulfilling their next waves of 360 units. And from my understanding either it will be spring that MS either a) gets their next amount units out for pre-orders or b) have units starting to appear in regular rotation at most reatail outlets. So I have no idea when I'll get mine, I'll just keep crossing my fingers each night I work hoping the truck unloaders spot one for me.
That's about it for this entry, if any of you caught any awesome Black Friday sales, post here what you got as I'm always interested in hearing about mad sales :D
