-Hello everybody and happy new year! Finishing off where my last post left off, the rest of my Christmas went well. I got a DVD rack, some clothes, Seinfeld Season 6, 49ers 2-disc greatest Super Bowl Moments DVD (w00t!), Mallraths 10th Anniversary DVD and a few other things from my mom. I got that Nirvana Box set from my sister who drew me for secret santa. Finally I got World Championship Poker 2 on Xbox and Swordfish from Joe. Another good giftload this year. The day went good celebrating with the family. Had an awesome Lasagna dinner and we all played monopoply for hours on end while watching football. What a way to end the year with 2 wins for the Niners! Sucks we missed out on Bush, but at least we end the season on a high note.
-Happy 2006 everyone. Huzzah! My new year holiday went pretty well. I celebrated with a lot of the same people I celebrated with who I rang in 2004 with. I met up with Ann at Jason & Rachel's around shortly before 11pm and I partied their along with a few other cool new people I met until around 4am. I didn't drink all that much, but I did manage to get a pretty decent buzz going for most of the night. I wanted to drive home so I spaced out about 5 drinks in 5 hours. We played mostly PnA and conversed for most of the night. Went pretty well overall, without much incident. Save one, but I'll save that minor story for another day.
Oddly enough, I went back to thinking how I spent most of my past new year's and I remember the past 7 of them pretty vividly. Before the ones I listed. Before these ones though, growing up I usually stayed up with the family and watched movies and we all ate pizza or something to that effect. But for the few who care, here is how I spent all my new year's this century:
-2000: I was 17 and remember really wanting to work that night to get some extra hours on the paycheck. However, my mom (who is easily influenced by any news report she sees on television) literally thought the whole world was going to hell over that Y2K scare that got hyped up to hell and forbid me to work that day. So I spent that night staying up watching movies with them and hanging out with the family. If memory serves right I want to say I think it was the first time I viewed Commando.
-2001: Nothing too special on this Christmas Eve. I was in the middle of my senior year in high school and Chris came over. We pretty much gamed all night. It was a good period in gaming that was about to come to an end actually. N64 was rocking its last major year with the recent releases of No Mercy and Perfect Dark, the PS2 was out and I was addicted to Timesplitters and Madden. And the Dreamcast was doing awesome too with many great games(mostly the awesome 2K sports titles and Shenmue), though at this moment we were just under a month away from the dreaded announcement that Sega was discontinuing it. I remember spending most that night with Chris gaming with our latest addictions: Timesplitters and Power Stone 2. I think we were in the middle of a round of Timesplitters when I said 'Oh crap its 12:08...uh Happy New Year'
-2002: This happened when I was at my old apartment with Matt as my roommate. I remember we had a bunch of friends from Crookston over we use to hang out with. Later a bunch of other people showed up unexpectingly and we must have had about 12-15 people crammed into our apartment. I remember later all of us leaving and going to Crookston that night to finish celebrating with other people. Twas a weird and crazy night I recall.
-2003: This was the only New Year I ended up working the night through at Target. I think I remember they let us out of the building for a few minutes to watch the fireworks as they were visible across town.
-2004: Celebrated New Year's with Rocket and AJ at Jason & Rachel's. I got a pretty good account of the situation I'll copy and paste from one of my old blog entries here: As far as New Year's Eve went, it was an allright time. I really couldn't get drunk cause I was a driving, but I milked two mixed drinks for three hours and a had a good enough time at the party I was at. It seemed like the complete party experience, there was the one heavy partier that puked and passed out, and there was the other respectable drunkard who said not a word as he walked around playing some soft tunes on his acoustic guitar. The several guys that snuck off into a room every 15 minutes to get stoned.....off of cigarrettes that is, ahem. To top it off, I had the best couple of burnt pieces of pizza I ever had!
-2005: Celebrated New Year's with Jarod at a party. I remember watching some Jean Claude Van Damme movie and just BS'n with everyone to abouts 1am or so. Here is a link to my short description of the day along with my first ever Gruelie's movie awards entry that I made in obvious attempt to parralel the success of the Kooby's! Rest assured I'll do one soon for the year 2005, I should have it done in my next entry here soon hopefully within the next few days.
-Hope you liked that. Other than that its been pretty uneventful. Scott did come over and we gamed it up on a lot of 360 awesomeness. We couldn't beat that goddam helicopter in the third level of PD0. For retroness we beat Smash TV on the Xbox Live Arcade. Was an awesome night that went well, though probably lasted a bit longer than I wanted as is usually the case with Scott. Enjoying my last night off right now as I go back to work tonight to start an amazing 10 night stretch. Pray that I survive it! Latez!
