-It has been a somewhat busy past couple of weeks. I think I enjoyed that spring break a lil too much. I gotta get use to this whole homework thing again, and not cracking open a beer when I get home from work. Past few weeks of work have gone by really fast tho, which is kinda surprising considering on this paycheck I got 10 hours overtime from the two previous weeks combines. Think I'll get NBA2K6 with it on 360 to play against Rich since I see him online in that a lot. I was debating on getting UND hockey playoff tickets here too, by sheer luck the round they were hosting the Sioux somehow managed to land a spot in there, and they need my support dammit!
-Last weekend was a pretty mellow/laid back weekend for the most part, while doing just enough stuff not to completely bore the hell outta me. I remember a week ago I went out for a fish fry with my dad, then I attempted to make plans with other people, but ultimately bailed out on partying on St. Patty's day and just decided to game it up on Xbox Live for most of the night. Saturday I checked out the stores with Chris and Joe and ended up buying that Johnny Cash cd because I just saw his Walk the Line film (pretty freaking good I might add). Chris took off and Scott joined us later on and the three of us saw V for Vendetta. After a little bit of perspective I really enjoyed the film. Theatre wasn't as packed as I thought it would be on the Saturday night of an opening weekend (I'd say around 40-50% full), but this film was a pleasure to watch. At first I thought some parts were really cliche and I was thinking 'why in the world are they doing that!?' but then all the pieces fell in place, and there were some killer fight scenes too. One of my few quips were that it was sometimes it was too hard to follow along with V when he was talking because with that mask on all he had to rely on was suttle hand gestures and it just felt a bit too static for my eyes. Other than that, V rocked and I'm definitely am going to buy it on DVD.
After the film I dropped everyone off and gamed some more on Xbox Live a bit with Scott in World Championship Poker 2. I also got into Serious Sam 2 and Toca Race Driver 3 finally. Both are excellent games, that continues the same gameplay I love of their predecessors. I love the dozens of motorsports available in Toca, as every few races in World Tour mode I am racing as a different type of vehicle, and things never feel repetitive as with most racing games. Serious Sam 2 is more of the awesome 'blow shit up' in your face gameplay that instead of throwing countless objectives and puzzles at the gamer, instead it throws hordes of opponents at you and gives you an insane amount of weapons to deal with them. I did 4 player co-op on Xbox Live, which fucking rocks! I picked it up the day I saw it went down to $20 a few weeks back, I highly recommend you guys do the same.
-I finally finished the Shawn Michaels autobiography yesterday. Pretty good overall, though Shawn doesn't seem to give a whole lot of information about a lot of things, he doesn't make sure to skimp out on a lot of details either and he adresses most of the serious rumors/gossip that circulated around him over the years. Though some of his lines come off as questionable, it was still a thorough and entertaining read. It covers his Indy and AWA years a lot more than I thought they would, and he gives a damn good rundown of nearly all the feuds he had in his career from his early WWF/E days in the Rockers tag team to trying to break out as a singles star and all the way to his way on top of the business. I highly recommend this book, just make sure that a few things that Shawn says lightly and you should enjoy it as much as me. I am probably going to start Bruce Campbell's autobiography "If Chins Could Kill" next week, and then follow up with Eddie Guerrero's bio. Anybody already read these and have some thoughts on them?
-I landed a guest spot on a podcast in a few weeks. This one is on one of my favorite gaming podcasts, The Wicked Pissa Podcast . Just a show about discussing and topics about gaming, not like all the zillions of others that is all about news and reviews. It was a big influence on the format I wanted to run with on The Pubcast and I can't wait to be on the show. I'll post a link to it when we do it, prolly a month or so from now. Speaking of The Pubcast, I think we are recording our third show tonight, which is probably going to consist majorly about what we think of Oblivion. I have finally got into that yesterday a little bit, but plan on playing it a lot more later today. I'm only at where the Emperor just dies, but I loved that first hour or so leading up to it. I can tell I am in for a ride that will blow Morrowind out of the water.
-So I heard the big news announced at GDC, that as part of the whole "virtual console" thing of the Revolution that will allow it to download all of Nintendo's NES, SNES, and N64 games, that Sega and NEC hopped on board too now and threw in all their Genesis & Turbo-Graphix 16 games to download on the Revolution. That'll be freaking sweet. I can't wait to try out all those untouched classics. You guys psyched about this yet or what?
-That does it for this update...peace!
