-Hey Yo! I have pretty much been playing my regular routine of work, school, sleep lately the past few weeks lately. That will probably change in a little while because school will finally be finishing up here in about two weeks. Huzzah. I think I'm gonna finish both classes with As hopefully. Still gotta pick next semester's classes, I have no idea what I am going to take.
-Last weekend was pretty decent. Friday my party plans turned out to be a bust so I just kicked back at my apartment and played Xbox all night and ended up racking up 130 achievement points through several accomplishments in Burnout Revenge, Amped 3, and Top Spin 2. I also got a bit into Dreamfall over the weekend. It is a modern day adventure game much like in the same vein as the equally awesome Indigo Prophecy, and just like Indigo, by the 8 hours I am already into Dreamfall it has just as equally a gripping and intense story. Did a bit more outgoing stuff Saturday. Checked out the stores with Chris and later met up with Joe at my folks and we had our first bonfire of the year. Rich and Justin joined us later that night too. Had a few beers and we all had a pretty fun time overall until Joe decided to be stupid and get his bb gun out and start target shooting in the backyard with the neighbors getting all ticked off about it. Other than that though it was a decent weekend.
-I got around to watching a couple more wrestling DVDs recently. I finished the first Ring of Honor DVD, 'Era of Honor Begins' and was amazed at the amount of good quality of wrestling matches it had on there for being its first show. I am a little way into the 'Road to the Title' DVD and halfway through volume one of 'The Best of Samoa Joe' and am just as impressed with those too. Ring of Honor is a dang good alternative which has crowds that remind me of the ECW ones that always appreciated great wrestling. I think I already like it more than TNA, it is just a shame that they are only limited to a DVD market for now with no television being available whatsoever. I also finished watching the Billy Graham DVD a few days ago. I was very hesitant on buying it when it first came out a few months ago and decided not to even pick it up until I caught a half decent sale on it. I was reluctant because I have no memories of Billy Graham whatsoever growing up since he was primarily an 80s star, the only time I remember him appearing before doing his recent random interview spots in 2004 and 2005 was coming out managing Don Muraco in the Wrestlemania 4 tournament.
With that said this was another well produced retrospective by the WWE. Their awesome streak of production values on these featurettes for these DVDs have me amazed with each new release. I thought this one would get a bit boring dealing with a different type of wrestling I didn't grow up on, but the DVD had me hooked for the whole feature. Even if you don't know a thing about the old school wrestlers, I recommend checking this out. I am now heavily hyped up for the Vince McMahon DVD coming out later this year. Just imagine all the stories he has to tell about changing the companies focus, screwing Bret, buying out his competition, the XFL debocal, and all his personal vendettas. Couple with that with all the awesome spotfest matches he did over the year and it will end up being prolly one of WWE's best DVDs to date.
-Speaking of picking up Billy Graham's DVD on sale, that is because our local Suncoast is going out of business. Right now they got a 30% off clearence sale going on, but I had to be careful for what I pick out because almost all of their stuff is generally priced 30-40% higher than the prices of DVDs at our local Target/Walmart/Best Buy. I did manage to save $10 after doing the price comparisons overall after getting Seasons 1 and 2 of the BBC version of The Office, the Billy Graham DVD, and a used copy of SNL Best of Christopher Waulken. I plan on hitting that place up again big time once everything goes down to 50% off. And while we are on the topic of new DVD purchases I may as well mention that I picked up a couple more at Target yesterday. My Cousin Vinny was on sale for $6.50. I've been meaning to buy that forever but always hesitated because I seem to catch it on tv all the time, but at that price its a steal. I also got the new Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children DVD. Didn't get a chance to watch it yet, but I've been hearing good things about it, and figured since by the fact alone this one actually had battles that it automatically became better than Spirits Within in my book. I plan on watching it soon and will give my thoughts in my next post.
-Got a call from Scott the other day saying he is back in town. I guessed somehthing must of happen that made him come back from Michigan. This is of no shock to me, but I am a tad surprised he is already back after just a couple weeks. Didn't get a chance to talk to him a lot to find out what happened, but it had to be something major obviously.
-24 is still just as good as always, and they continue to be on their roll of 'kill all major characters that matter' role they have been on this season. Now unless Hellar somehow managed to escape like how Henderson described (prolly not), he will end up another star offed this season to add to the tally with Palmer, Dessler, Almeida, Lynn, Edgar, and damn near all the extras at CTU. And I still think its obviously clear that how they decided to make Logan the the guy who planned it all recently a last ditch decision no matter how many lame attempts they try to justify his earlier actions in the first half of the season. All that aside, 24 still rocks and I enjoy it just as much.
On the wrestling side of tv HHH is being awesome again when he is at the part where every few years they like to tease us with a face turn of him with still being his badass self, but now with hints of his old DX character to counterract his old boring self. They'll prolly ruin it as usual and return to his old self by Backlash. And as far as HBK teaming with God goes......blah, it should make for some interesting antics at the PPV. Other random wrestling notes: I am excited to hear WWE is reforming ECW this fall, I hope it turns out well and they keep the same kind of atmospher and production with it like they did with the One Night Stand PPV last year. Smackdown is ok, I dig the Jack Sparro ripoff that is Paul Burchill and eagerly hope they do some cross promotion with Pirates of the Carribbean 2 this summer. I also hope London & Kenderick win the tag titles against MnM. Other than that only other thing I'm looking forward to in Smackdown is the returns of Helms & Batista. In perspective now, I really digged Batista's run as champ, and thought he made one helluva champ. On the TNA front things are about the same as usual. I continue to enjoy the X Division matches, most of the heavyweight stuff is hit and miss, with most of it being recycled from WCW's last years of crap so it is hard to hold my interest. But I'll still continue to support it just as a nice alternative to WWE anyways.
That wraps up this weeks long lines of dribble....latez!
