-Hey Yo! Halfway through the work week thus far, and it the most fun one of the year as it is inventory week. We spend a majority of the week prepping out the whole store for inventory, and it is so not fun. Guess I'll live through the suffering.
-Guess a lot of cool new wrestling DVDs came out the past few days that I didn't even know about until recently so I kinda went on a shopping frenzy. I picked up The Dusty Rhodes Story (I was surprised it was 3 discs, but after gazing over the list of extras it all started to click in), The Greatest Wrestling Managers, and TNA's the best of Samoa Joe. I just finished up watchin volume 1 of the best of Joe in Ring of Honor, and greatly enjoyed it. I also finally finished RoH's Road to the Title DVD. These RoH DVDs are really good in wrestling quality, I just wished they had higher production values. I still have 2004's Death Before Dishonor part two, and 2005's Manhatten Mayhem so hopefully the quality is a bit higher.
-I finished up Bruce Campbell's autobiography last week and was pleasently surprised by it. Before reading it the only major movie of his I saw was Army of Darkness, and some of his films where he had minor roles like McHale's Navy, Spider-Man, and Hudsucker Proxy. And with the exception of Spider-Man, I forgot he was in the other two until this book refreshed my memory. The book was well written and now it makes me want to hunt down a lot of his old movies and tv shows he was in. Lots of good tales were told, and it gave me a good look at the Hollywood industry. If anyone has any other good actor biographies to recommend, please post them here. Right now next up in my book que is Eddie Guerrero's biography, and then Chuck Palaunuck's latest novel, Haunted. I also ordered a couple of college-humor books off amazon because they were both on sale for $10: I hope they Serve Beer in Hell, and The Alphabet of Manliness. The second book is by the one and only net legend, Maddox, and I love his entries off his "Best Page in the Universe" so I figured why not give this one a try. I dig that type of humor too, so I think I'll like both of these books.
-Last weekend went pretty well. Started things off by taking Joe to the film, See No Evil. Yes, the WWE branded film that has Kane as the main villain, and yes I saw it because of that reason so there. Joe knew nothing about it and just went cuz he likes horror and slasher flicks when I told him this movie was in that genre, and halfway through it he whispered to me "Dale, this sucks." Not the greatest film I have to admit. I like Jason vs Freddy a lot more. Acting was awesomely bad as I expected, same with the plot, but the gore was great. And for the fact I got to yell, "chokeslam his ass Kane" out loud in the theatre, and only four other people were there to hear it made my day. You guys probably won't like it at all, I did a little bit, but admittedly my perspective is a bit jaded because of me being a wrestling fan and all so I'll rate See No Evil a 5.5/10
After the film I took Joe for an interview at Gamestop. They're opening a new movie-focused store in town and are hiring a bunch of new employees. I decided not to apply as help, but offered my services to the manager to help set up the store since that is what I primarily do at my other job. So it sounds like I'll be helping by doing that in a few weeks. Rest of Friday went pretty well. I hung out with Scott and Chris and we gamed it up for awhile. We also watched the Strangerhood DVD. It is from the same people who made redvsblue, but this machinima is made with the Sims 2 engine. It is very good, and a nice change of pace after watching all their redvsblue DVDs. Later that night we recorded an episode of The Pubcast to discuss it and some other topics.
Saturday started off kinda slow, Steve came over to do his usual transfer of load of songs to his Xbox, we did bring back some good old days later on tho by throwing in RAW 2 for the first time in a while. Steve took off a little later, and then I met up with Joe so we could help Ann's boyfriend Stu move a television to his new apartment. It was a big tube 44" tv that was a pain, but we manage to get the job done. After that it was around 10:30 at night and Joe said he was gonna go biking around downtown and wanted to join him. I figured why the hell not and dug up my old bike in my mom's garage which I hadn't rode in 5 years since I was 18, and it was still in pretty decent shape to my surprise. Well, minus the fact the tires had completely no air in them, but after walking the bike 3 blocks to the nearest gas station I was good to go. So for about two hours Joe and I bike around downtown near the bars and residential, ran into my coworker Chris in the barscene and caught him off guard, then later Joe and I stopped at the other Chris's house since he was nearby and BS'd with him for a while and then headed back home. It actually felt good to do something like that for a change, I need to do that more often.
-All in all tho, a pretty good week. Tiz all I got for now...latez
