-Hey Yo, I know it has been a lonnnng time since an update, but I'll try my bestest to not make this another long rambling-esque catch-up entry like I have done in the past. I'll focus more on highlights. Yeeee-ahhh!
-So the weekend before last was more or less a waste on my part. On that Saturday (6/24), Grafton was holding its annual demolition derby. I was going to go again with my dad like we did last year, but a week before that I got invited to this kegger that a bunch of other coworkers were throwing. So since it was something to do with new people for once, I jumped on the offer and canceled the derby plans with my dad (there usually are derby's going on all the time during the summer anyways). Come the day of the kegger, I look at the directions to the place, and realize its about 45 miles outta town. I should have just went since I had nothing else going on, but my lazy ass was reluctant as hell to make that drive so I pretty much sat at home and did jack shit.
-Movieness: I did catch a lot of movies at the theatre the past two weekends tho, 3 in total. First off I saw Nacho Libre with Scott. Pretty good overall, had its fair share of laughs but certainly nowhere near being comedy of the year by any means. Jack Black's facial expressions made the movie, that guy just keeps better. I'll go a 7/10 on that one. I saw Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift a few days later on one of those days I felt like going to a film by myself outta the blue. I had rather low expectations for this, with my only reason wanting to see it being I always liked the theatrics of the race and chase scenes. The southern boy main actor I wasn't that much of a fan of, but I managed to tolerate him as the film went on, accept for the fact they wanted him to fly as a 17 year old. The story ended up being surprisingly decent, and of course the race/chase scenes were great as always and Vin Diesel's cameo in the end was a nice touch to finish things off so I'll go a 6.5/10.
Finally I saw Superman Returns last weekend with Chris. I was a little eerie going in expecting some dragging parts with it being a 2 and a half hour movie. To my surprise it seemed about an hour less than that. It had lots of story development, but also had its own good amount of action. I really liked this overall, and I think Brandon Routh makes a damn good Superman especially considering I haven't heard of the dude before. Prolly one of the best comic movies I've seen ever so I'll go a 9/10 on this one.
-Star Wars-ness: Speaking of movies I did another movie marathon with Matt last night. He was hellbent on getting me to watch the original Star Wars Trilogy (ep 4-6) since I have never seen them before (I only saw episodes 2 and 3, and I think I may have caught bits and pieces off of tv from the originals before when I was a kid, but I have no remembrance of them whatsoever). I thought we were gonna start off on those but I guess he wanted to watch all six. I didn't think I could make it through all six but I tried my damndest. I never saw The Phantom Menace before so I didn't mind seeing that, and it didn't seem as bad as people made it out to be (other than Ja-Ja being super annoying). Then we saw Attack of the Clones, and considering the only time I saw it was in the theatres four years ago, it was nice seeing it again and catching the little things that factored in later on.
I managed to convince Matt to skip Revenge of the Sith since I saw that twice within the past year. Then I finally saw A New Hope for the first time ever, and these were all the DVD remastered editions we were watching. Matt pointed out that whole "Han Shoots First" part that got so much attention, and after seeing it I don't see what the big fuss is about. I was surprised with a lot of the stuff they were able to pull off with this in 1977, I really liked it in the end, except for the lame ultimate lightsaber duel between Vader and Obi-Wan, but I guess for the time that musta been really cutting edge. But overall a good thumbs up from me. We got about 45 minutes into Empire Strikes Back, but at that point I was on the verge of passing out so we decided to stop the marathon there.
-That's about it. Other little things that I guess I'll mention are that I wasn't a big fan of the debut ECW on Sci-Fi show, but the later two shows got significantly better. I hear Paul Heyman isn't the head booker anymore so it's going to be interesting to see what direction the show takes now. Chris lent me Full Auto for the 360, and after having some more time with it I am enjoying it a bit more, even more online to my delight. I'll prolly pick it up since it went down to $35 used at Gamestop. Oh yeah, speaking of Gamestop, Joey and Chris now work there. They just opened up a third Gamestop in our town, and they hired a bunch of new people so Joe and Chris hopped right on. They both work at different stores, but they tell me they are loving it so huzzah for them.
Tiz all for now...latez!
