-Hiya!
-Still got no 360 back, tomorrow marks exactly two months since it originally broke down. Called MS twice so far this week to see if they mailed the furby to me yet and keep getting the "call back in a couple days to see if we processed the info yet" line. Fuck you Microsoft! In other console news I decided to request the day off of work for when the Wii comes out so I can play it all day. I'll prolly get it for $250, though I have no idea what games to get, I guess I'll get Zelda. Maybe's on Blazing Angels/ExciteTruck/Monkey Ball/ and Red Steel depending on price. I hope there's a big initial sale on games with there being just so damn many at launch. $40 would be nice.
-Last weekend was pretty fun. On Friday I met up with Joe, Jake, Chris, and Scott and we all played a lot of Perfect Dark Zero for a few hours. I wanted to see Gridiron Gang and/or Invincible that night, but I decided to put that aside so I can game instead. Next day was the day of football. I went with Jane and Shawn and their two kids to see the UND home football game, it was our yearly Potatoe Bowl. We demolished Winona 49-2. Yes, they only scored a safety. It was an awesome game although not that competitive, I just had a fun time cheering the nonstop scores (and 10 sacks!) The Sioux were achieving.
After the game I decided to hit up both my football movies at the theatre. Since no one expressed interest in going to them with me the day before, I hit up the theatre by myself for both Gridiron Gang and Invincible. Gridiron Gang was damn good. I was a little skeptical beforehand because the trailers indicated to me that this would be just another run of the mill feel good football flick, but the film managed to hook me in real quick and had me interested throughout. To say that this is The Rock's best performance is an understatement and a half, he was amazing throughout. If you dig sports flicks, go check this out. I'll go 9/10
Invincible was good too. The cinematographers did a good job at making this feel like a 70s flick. Just something about the atmosphere and the camera angles they used that made the actors come to life. Watching Papoli (sp?) journey from the opening tryouts and through training camp is pretty intense and interesting. Mark Wahlberg has grown on me a bit, this is now the third film I thought he delivered a good performance in along with Italian Job and Four Brothers. Overall, a nice feel-good underdog flick about the 30 year old bartender that could, but it is still a ways off from Rudy-calibur. Still a good flick I must say, I'll go a 7.5/10 on it.
After the game and both flicks I felt pretty drained and had a headache so I decided to just spend the rest of the day chillin out. I completed the second disc of Lost season 2, and Michelle Rodriguez continues to piss me off more and more in each episode she's in. Only game I played single player wise this past weekend was Yakuza. Only an hour and a half into it so far, so it is a bit hard to say my opinion on it except that I'm digging the story.
-Hey hey, the Vikes won. Good for them! Julius Peppers was delivering a hurting to the Vikings O-line and Brad Johnson for sure. Boy I gotta say though the Vikes got lucky on that dumb play of the day by Gamble by tossing that stupid lateral on a punt return. Vikes stuggled to make it into the red zone all day, and made a very smart play on that fake field goal which resulted in a TD to tie the game. And then the defense and special teams bailed them out in OT when they caused Panthers to fumble way back in their own territory which resulted in an easy field goal. Vikes got lucky big time, though I'm eagerly looking forwards to them getting slaughtered by the Bears this weekend, watch out because now the league's best defense now has a legitimate NFL offense. And oh yeah, the 49ers won their first game too against the Rams. I'm still predicting 8-8, and it's probably gonna be a mediocre season overall, but I could care less about that because I am fucking thrilled that the Niners finally have a good offense for the first time in 3 years.
-I saw Unforgiven Sunday night with Steve, Jake, and Scott. Pretty fun time, and probably the best single brand PPV the WWE has put on since Backlash 2004 (not including the ECW spectacles). The Hell in a Cell was awesome to finally see the McMahons getting their just deserves. Especially Vince mopping it up with Big Show. TLC was awesome too, lotsa good spots, and seeing Edge take an FU from the top of the ladder thru two tables will go down as one of the spots of the year for sure. Trish's last sendoff was also great...awesome to see her go out on top. She will go down as my all-time fave Diva, both as a wrestler and as a hottie. Its too bad tho there was no audio, Buffalo Wild Wings decided to play the Sunday Night Football game audio instead.
-Tiz all I got for now. Latez
