Hello Everybody! Half way through another fun work and school week, actually got off work over an hour early today, so that was a nice rare event. Just a couple more days until the PS3 hits stores, and just a couple more after that until the Wiiiiii. Any of you guys picking up these systems on launch? I know I am for sure getting a Wii, but myself and my wallet both agree on avoiding the PS3 at all costs. I'll probably only pick up Zelda on launch and a Wii points card for a couple Virtual Console games. We already have people waiting in line outside our local Best Buy for over a day now. I plan on getting to Target several hours before they open on Sunday, but waiting more than that, especially at least two whole days just doesn't cut it for me.
-Hey Shady, was I right or what about picking the Niners over Lions!? Whoooooo!!! Niners won two games in a row for only their second time since 2003, this is a time for celebration!!!!
-Guess I got rehired at Gamestop for holiday season again, though a bit late in the holiday season admittedly. I think I wrote about here before I didn't plan on doing this year because of being in school more and if I were to do it it'd be on an extremely limited basis. Well, I went in there yesterday to pick up my reserve copy of Smackdown vs RAW 2007 for 360, and the head manager was there who I worked for the past two holiday seasons, Jason. Been several months since I've seen him and he told me him and the rest of the staff really wanted me back, even if it was just for one night during the week, he told me I didn't even have to work weekends. So once a week for all of December is pretty much when I'll work there, my first day is in two weeks. Feels weird, but it'll be at a new store in town where all the people transferred over to when it was completed (we now have 3 Gamestops in town, all within 5 minutes of each other compared to three years ago when we had just one in our town of just 50,000 people).
-Speaking of picking up new games, I have been splurging on them a bit too much lately (also on DVDs this week too with releases of Family Guy volume 4 and Roddy Piper set). This past week will feature me getting three 360 games. Just Cause (played and loved the demo, didn't want to pay $50 for it but saw a sale on it to get it at $35 which I couldn't resist), and Smackdown 2007 (traded in some old games to knock the price down to $30). Then I found out by some lucky miracle, I managed to score the review copy of Gears of War for our site, probably because I was the only 360 owner on staff who didn't buy the game. It's that holiday season again, that is for sure, that'll mark the third review game I got this past month along with Poker: All In, and Gun: Showdown. Combining that with some recent PS2 purchases like Bully and Yakuza over past couple months, and along with the Wii this weekend (thank goodness for Plasma money to cover that), I am blowing a helluva lot of money on games this quarter of the year.
-Last weekend was a lot of fun. Chris and later on Scott came over Friday night. Chris brought over Gears of War, Call of Duty 3, and Guitar Hero 2. Chris and I first played through first couple of missions in co-op on Gears of War which was a helluva lot of fun. That stop 'n pop presents a whole new dynamic we don't see too often in games (except in the unpopular Kill.Switch a few years ago) We plan on doing a mad marathon this weekend as well in hopes of finishing off the co-op. Then when Scott came over we played a little bit of Call of Duty 3, and then did a mad marathon in Guitar Hero 2 where we managed to beat all 40 of the main songs on Medium. Fun times indeed.
My sister Sherrie who lives in Montevideo, MN, was in town last weekend and I spent most of Saturday with her and the rest of the family. We all went to a UND football game, it was their last game of the season (and their Division 2 career as they go 1-AA next season finally) as they took on South Dakota. My streak of seeing their home games in person continues as all the games I saw them in, they won (which is at about a dozen games now past four seasons), they defeated South Dakota 33-26 in a nice and competitive game. Later on we all went out to eat and came back home and visited for awhile. Pretty good day all together. I went back home that night and just stayed up playing a lot of 360 games, making progress in Saint's Row, Test Drive, and Just Cause. Overall, very fun and enjoyable weekend.
-Registered for classes next semester. I am enrolled in Comp II, US History II, and American Popular Music. Yay
-Been a while since I discussed my thoughts on the wrestling scene. Still am actively watching all four brands/promotions. RAW has been nothing too impressive lately, though plenty passable for me. I am liking the stunts they have Cryme Tyme pull off lately, their interaction with DX last Monday had me in stitches. Nice to see the tag titles get a push too, now hopefully Cade & Murdoch will finally get the push they deserve and end up on top of the tag division again. Smackdown is still mostly fast forward material for me, I like watching some of the cruiserweights and London & Kendrick cause of their sheer awesomeness, and that's about it. For some reason I also am a fan of Sylvan on Smackdown. Though lately they have been sending a lot of their talent to ECW. Past two weeks have seen Daivari, Khali, Sylvester Turkay, Elijah Burk, & Bobby Lashley all go to ECW, or shall I now call it the Smackdown dumping grounds.
TNA I have always been a fan of, especially now that Kurt Angle is there. Though now I am cautious of it again now that Russo is back there as their main booker. He does some good things like try and give proper story building to most matches instead of throwing them out there, but he also tries a lot of crap too like recently that crazy reverse battle royal, and though he hasn't really done it yet, I got a feeling we'll be in for a lot of his patented short as hell title reigns with constant changing champions. Their two hour primetime debut is this Thursday on Spike, and I have managed to avoid spoilers so that is gonna be awesome to see how that turns out.
-Tiz all I got for ya now. Latez
