-Hey hey! Classes are fucking over, summer break is here, hell yeah!!!! Hell yeah!!! um....Fuck yeah!!!! My last finals went by with no problems
-So my crazy four day weekend is about to come to an end. Let's start from the very beginning, as I got off work Thursday morning I headed out to my vehicle and it didn't start. I know I didn't leave my lights on, but I attempted to get it jumped anyways to no avail. After that didn't work, I took my Ranger to the Ford dealership and had them look at it. Turned out it was the Steering Ignition wire that burned out. I also needed a belt replaced and after the tow, the damn bill came to $475. I should be seeing $50 back from my Insurance on the tow at least though. Throughout the day as I was trying to get sleep I kept getting woken up by the body shop giving me progress updates on the vehicle, so that day I was lucky to get even 2 hours of sleep.
Eventually I gave up on sleep and my dad got ahold of me for some beer tasting event going on, and I tried out a wide variety of brews to kill the time as I waited for my vehicle back. Best one was probably Lucky Stripe and some new alcoholic Iced Teas that I ended up getting a 6 pack of. Got my vehicle back and managed to last a few more hours at home before passing out of my mind.
-Friday things finally got better. Met up with Matt, and we recorded the 29th episode of my podcast (download it here) which we originally planned to do a year ago of our rundown of nearly all comic book videogames from all eras of gaming. But we finally got around to it, and it ended up being a freaking stellar.
Right after that though it was time to leave to meet up with Ryan and his crew in Fargo for his 48 hour short film project that I mentioned in my last entry. Like I said before, they draw a film genre and have to use a certain prop, character, and line of dialogue and make the film under 7 minutes in length within 48 hours. I met up with his family and later Ryan and John from work met up with us and we brainstormed ideas, by this time it was around 9pm. Ryan drew Sci-Fi. It started to rain and we managed to have enough time fo flim a quick scene. For the plot, I play one of three assassins from the future. One of the assassins has enough of the mindless killing and steals our corporation's time traveling device. The other two assassins then go through time to track the rebel down.
80% of the film was shot on Friday at a local park. It went surprisingly fast according to Ryan, even though some shots took many, many, takes (damn you fog machine!), and for the last couple shots Ryan had the challenge to film John from a certain angle after he ripped the back of his pants. I still have a couple minor aches from falling on some bleachers several times for a take, but it was worth it! I can't wait to see how it turns out. Ultimately, I had a really fun time overall with John, Ryan and his family. We all saw Hot Fuzz at the theater later that night as a lil reward for finishing shooting earlier than expected. Hot Fuzz was freaking hilarious. Its from the same people who did Shaun of the Dead and is loaded with tons of the same British comedy.
-I left Fargo early Saturday as Ryan and crew went to film one last scene where I wasn't needed. Shortly after I got back Joey came over and we watched Smoking Aces, which also equally ruled, weird ass sense of time aside, that film and its action/fight scenes were superb. Joey left soon after, and almost just as soon Chris came over and brough over the Halo 3 beta to try out.
Here are my impressions after a few rounds. The new Laser Launcher is kinda cool, but I found it useless because of how long it takes to charge, I love the return of the assault rifle, the new stick grenades and bubble grenades get my seal of approval too. That new auto firing spike gun is pretty effective also. Oh yeah, bodies floating in water=awesomeness, and the gameplay just feels a lot smoother all together. Graphics so far don't seem as much of a big jump from Halo 2 on my SD set, other than a couple layers of polish and some stellar new.....um....grass, it looks mostly the same to me. I only played a few rounds so far though, but those are my initial impressions of the Halo 3 beta.
-But yeah, that was my four day weekend. Whooooooo....or something.
