-Hey Yo. Summer break rules, finally starting to make some progress through some old games and DVDs....along with also making the mistake of buying plenty of new ones before I'm completely caught up. Damn me for making that mistake.
-So this past Tuesday at the Fargo Theater they had the premier of all the short films of the 48 hour project I talked about in my last entry. There was about 13 films in all. It was mighty cool seeing myself on an actual legitimate movie screen. Our film, called "Time Peace" lasted about a grand total of 6 minutes, and had a good crowd reaction, Ryan said it got a better applause than his film from last year. There were some other good films shown too, my favorites of the rest were "The Accidentalist" about a guy who keeps accidentally killing people, and there were also two sports films that I liked, one which was an olympic style competition that placed security guards against mascots and another one wich was focused around a hot dog eating contest.
I had to leave shortly after the premieres and didn't have time to find out how we fared in the awards a couple hours later because of work. But I later found out from Ryan that our film didn't get any awards as they were swept by mostly four films. Click here to check out the list of all the winners from the film festival.
-Ryan is actually going to be moving to Fargo shortly for a year to take some extra classes at NDSU, and his last day at work is in a few days. Another person who recently moved I think I forgot to mention in my last couple entries was Steve. He moved to Mankato, MN a few weeks ago to get a new place with a friend. That sucks having two good friends move away so soon of each other, especially right when summer is starting....that means I got to attempt to make new friends....or worse, spend more time with family!!! I kid, I kid...I love the family of course.
-So schedule at work has been so crazy lately with random 4 day breaks and then working long stretches with broken days off. After my four day break and coming in from town from Fargo, I worked for two days, then had two more off. I took those days off pretty easy, watched some movies with family like Night at the Museum which was a bit too over the top for my tastes and 16 blocks wich ruled. Hung out with Matt a good chunk for one day and cruised around town for awhile. Other than that crappy weather forced me to stay inside. I really want to get into playing a good amount of tennis this summer, but just need to find a tennis partner, I tried getting Joey to play tennis with me last but that didn't work out too well. Speaking of Joey, he is doing some very weird shit to his car, I might have to post some pics up in one of my next entries. Chris put it best when he told me the other day he is one of the most spontaneous people he ever knew.
Yesterday, I saw Pirates 3 with Chris and Joe, which I liked quite a bit. Better than 2, but I still gotta say I prefer the original. I'll never forget only going to the original film because of the ticket I got with the video game which had very loose relations to the actual movie. The video game I played at that year's E3 and was a very good action-RPG game which was actually suppose to be the sequel to Bethesda's Sea Dogs. At the end they struck a deal with Disney to name one of the ships the Black Pearl and add in a few skeleton Pirates at the last minute and call it "Pirates of Carribbean" just in time for the movie. I had no idea the film would explode like it would.
-So over the past few weeks all my favorite tv shows have been having their season finales. Only exception is The Shield which still has a few episodes left. Let's do a quick recap. My Name is Earl was mediocre, the show is good, but I'm not digging it as much as I use to. Going to be interesting to see if they do a few shows next season to show what jail life is like for Earl, or if he'll just come back out of the pen right at the beginning of the season. The Office had an awesome finale. The writers for that show are top notch (Shruit bucks and Stanley nickels=new national currency), and it had many funny twists like Jan's breast implants, and Ryan of all people ending up getting the new corporate job. Big ups from me on that show finale.
Onto 24, and it was definitely one of the weaker finales in recent memory. Jack's dad dies (or does he!?) in lame fashion, and Chan gets his just deserves in a weak 6-8 episode arc that shouldn't have even happened. It was ok, but just lacked that big "oomph" I was expecting as Jack just stared silently into space realizing he lost the last person he cared about. Lost on the other hand had a damn good finale. The "flash forward" twist at the end came from nowhere and was a very welcoming twist to keep me on my feet wanting to know what happens between now and then. Lost really turned it around for the better, nearly the entire first half to two thirds of this season was very disappointing and I was on the verge of abadoning the show alltogether. However, the last few shows got things back on track with very good character development and less of the lame flashbacks (I don't give a crap how Jack got his tattoos). Here's to a very good season 4.
-Tiz all I got for ya today....latez!
