-Hey Yo! Another day another blog update, just a bit later than usual. Wow these last few weeks of summer has actually been quite busy. Dunno why, just seems I got a lot of things going on lately.

-So my gaming scene has been pretty busy as well. Gotta love summer, it is the only period of the year I can make some serious time for my backlog. Just several days ago I achieved the goal I set at the beginning of the year by beating my 12th game, this one being the Shield on PS2 (my review). I upped the ante just a tad and am going to shoot for 15 games now by the end of the year, so if I can meet goal number two, I'll be thrilled. Right now I am about three hours into Syberia 2 on Xbox, and if you recall from a few entries back I beat the first game about a month ago. I am digging the story thusfar and the storytelling is just as good as the original. I am also making a little progress here and there in the original Phoenix Wright on DS, only about 2 hours into it overall.

I am actually building up a decent collection of RPGs that I will probably barely make a scratch through. I know I mentioned in past entries earlier this year I got Dragon Quest 8 and Star Ocean on the PS2. Then just a couple weeks ago Matt hooked me up with a great deal where I got Final Fantasy VII, VIII, X, and X-2 combined for $40. Then just a few days ago I picked up Final Fantasy IX for $20. So yeah.....if I ever make time to beat all these games I will consider it a miracle.

One other note on the gaming scene is that publisher Agetec announced they are bringing the latest installment in the uber popular Japanese wrestling series FirePro over to the PS2 in the US. It is called FirePro Returns. And actually just a couple weeks ago I hooked up the Dreamcast and rolled out my import copy of FirePro D with Dick, and saw some footage of FirePro R on youtube and came pretty close to paying around $40 for importing it. Thank you Agetec, other than a couple ok GameBoy Advance ports several years ago we never ever got any major FirePro releases in America. Out of nowhere this release is now one of my most anticipated releases of the year.

-So a couple weekends ago was Scotts wedding. The day before was the rehearsal dinner where we all ate at Italian Moon....that was the first time I ate there in many years, and yet the pizza still kicks ass. Afterwards I took Scott to the casino in Manohmen, MN. It was the first time I went to a casino in about a year and a half, which has been the average for the past four years or so. Last time I went to casino with Scott and Joe last year I lost all my money and blackjack and figuring that I could play blackjack at practically any bar in town I decided to go back and give the slots another chance that I rarely ever win on.....boy did my luck change for the better finally. It was like I finally got my revenge for losing at casinos all the time for the past six years.

First I put $10 into an old favorite of mine, The nickel Mr. Lucky's fortune cookie slot machine and turned it into $40. I was literally thinking of stopping right there just because I was never that far ahead before. But I still had $10 left of the original $20 I brought with me I wanted to use so I tried out some random 4th of July penny slot machine. So I put $5 in and after awhile I got a $60 win which upped me to around $65, so I told myself "I'm gonna stop at either $70 or $60, whatever I hit first." Well, I kept staying around $65 for the longest time and then I couldn't believe it and my jaw drop as I hit a $100 spin which upped me to $165. I cashed out at $160......on a freaking penny slot machine. So in total I was $185 ahead, I put in a few more five spots on some more random slot machines but I could tell my luck was running dry so I cashed out when I was ahead by $170. Super awesome!

-So the next day was Scott's wedding. Second time as a groomsmen, first time as a best man. It was a smaller private wedding, but it was still real nice and cool to be there for Scott's big day. I never seen a guy so calmed and relaxed for a wedding before, couldn't even tell the guy was nervous for a second. Beth had one hell of a bride entrance and came in on a horse carriage. For the reception I did the big speech which totally caught Scott off guard with my complements for him. I always get nervous when doing speeches in classes at college the past couple years in just front of 15-20 people, so for the reception which had around 60-70 people I was surprised I kept my composure a little bit better, but still had a couple feathers ruffled. Anyways, congrats again Scott!

-I believe I mentioned here several times before I listen to a lot of podcasts. I had to cut off a few from my daily rotation as work banned headphones about a month ago, and I had to regrettably cut several podcasts out of my favorites out of my mix. Unfortunately one of the ones I still listened to ended after a great run for two and a half year run and 153 episodes. Broadcast Gamer was the very first videogame podcast I listened to and remained one of my favorites. Host MC Wilson just had such a natural radio voice for a indy podcast and his co-host Boric Phallico complemented his style perfectly. Just wanted to say thanks for the many good shows and memories MC and best of luck with whatever you work on next.

Speaking of podcasts that are leaving....well at least certain hosts of some. Another podcast in my rotation, The Hotspot (Gamespot.com's podcast) is another one of my favorites. Its show is a lighter take on the gaming business with plenty of jokes and is a very fitting alternative to the many serious ones I listen to. Anyways, their host (and host of all Gamespot's video features), Rich Gallup is leaving and his last shows just went off this week. Rich ruled and was a natural on the sets and brought some great humor to the shows and he was a pro at improvising. Listening to all future podcasts and watching all the future Gamespot video specials without him just won't be the same. Big ups Rich, I will miss your fucked up eyebrow!

-Had a couple birthdays also last week. My mom and my brother, Bob's birthdays are three days apart. Bob and his family threw a big 'ol BBQ which was mighty awesome. For my mom's birthday, the family went out to Applebees. Good times.

-Spent a good chunk of last weekend hanging out with Matt. We watched some of the Comicon coverage on G4 and started up Marvel Ultimate Alliance on PS2. I also watched Airplane for the first time after hearing about its glory after all these years, and I can definitely say the movie lived up to its pedigree. Very good for one of the first spoofs, yet I am mystified beyond belief that it got a PG rating, I guess a lot more sexual themes must of been acceptable back in 1980. After I told Matt about how well I finally did at the casino it inspired us to go out on another casino trip to the one in Thief River Falls. It's been about five years since I went there, and Matt and I went there a lot when I was shayring a apartment with him several years ago. When we got there I instantly went down $20. Mostly on nickel machines and the new Top Gun slot machine which has a badass bonus game. Later though the penny machine's saved me and I won by $20 back and even managed to went up $15 after that before cashing out and calling it a night.

-I've rambled on long enough yet again. Thanks for taking the time to read this! Latez!
