-Hey hey everybody! The latest semester of classes started up yesterday. Initial impressions of my 3 teachers are pretty good. I guess my Macro Economics class is going to mostly be taught through a satellite tv as my teacher is also teaching the class at another campus simultaneously at Thief River Falls. So that is kind of different. I am dreading the insane amount of homework and lack of free time coming my way again, but I guess I will just tend to the grind and get it over with.

-Well I decided to raise my geek meter to the nth degree recently. I requested two paid days off work to play Halo 3....yes...I really did. Gamestop is doing a midnight sale of it since both our stores in town combined haved over 400 reserves for the game (not bad for a town of just 50,000). And since Halo 3 offers the awesome capability to do 4 player online/system link co-op, I talked to some people and me, Chris, Scott, and Kyle are going to stay up all night and play the game and try to beat the campaign within two days. Way I see it I got over 40 hours of vacation built up and don't got any other vacation plans in the horizon anytime soon so I may as well put them to good use :D

Our local indy videogame store, Rock 30 Games had a buy two get one free sale going on, so of course I just had to go and splurge some money on payday. I ended up picking up Blitz the League for 360 because I just am a sucker for football games. Rogue Trooper on Xbox since I always wanted to give that game a shot, and Deus Ex: Invisible War for Xbox since I recalled that in reviews at the time it was like a kickass Morrowind clone, but in futuristic cyberpunk future.

I dunno when I'll make time to play all those games again, but I have been playing plenty of other games. Right now I have been playing a lot of Oblivion and All-Pro Football 2K8. I am almost through the Mages Guild now in Oblivion, and of course that game is kicking ass. I almost lost it during a round of 2k8. I was playing every week of my season in that game until I had a bad streak of luck. At that point I was 8-1-1 (yes I somehow got a tie).

Anyways I had a really close game going on against the comp, score was going back and fourth. Early in the 4th quarter I managed a very time effective drive slowly, but surely making my way down the field and scoring with a few minutes left to play. So the computer decides to take the kick return and run it all the way for a TD, first time that ever happened to me in 2k8. I kept my cool, and produced another time effective drive and scored with just 48 seconds left in the 4th, so then the computer runs another goddam kick return for a TD on me. At that point I just sim'd the game to an end and sim'd the rest of the season. Now I just have to plug through the playoffs. Other than those two games I have been playing Pinball FX on Xbox Live Arcade (damn good pinball, almost too realistic!) and round of Guitar Hero 2.

-So my last weekend before the school year went by pretty good. On Thursday I went down to Fargo with Matt and Danielle as they were looking for apartments. Matt is going to be transferring jobs down to Fargo soon, thus the move. We drove around town for a while, and eventually they found a good place and met with the renters and I got to check out the apartment with them. They put a credit check through and it looks like they got a good chance of getting the place. Anyways we got back in town later that day and checked out Superbad in theaters, a movie I was anticipating greatly for a few months now, and boy did it deliver. That movie is hilarious it's right up there with Knocked Up for me, dunno which I like more, once I check out both again on video I should know for sure. You must see this flick, unless you're a a gal cuz this is definitely a guy film.

-On Friday I hung out with Dick, Scott, and Chris throughout the day. Watched some episodes of Impact and ECW I taped with Dick, and made some decent progress in some co-op games with Scott as we put a couple hours into Gears of War and Dark Alliance. On Sunday, I had a WWE Summerslam PPV party and had a helluva lot of people over. New record turnout with 9 people coming over: Dave, Dick, Paul, Ryan, Whitney, Jake, Charles, Joey, and Steve. Somehow, someway we managed to cram everyone in my efficiency apartment just fine, and many kudos to Steve for bringing those couple extra chairs over or else we'd be screwed.

As far as the PPV went, it was decent, but a couple of the main title matches were a big letdown. CM Punk/Morrison was moving along and building at a pretty good pace, but then they decide to do that goddam cheating rollup with feet on the ropes finish I hate so much. It's fine to do that on tv and use it to build to a PPV match, but to have that copout of a finish and pay money to see that finish in one of WWE's three brands headlining match is just inexcusable. At least it wasn't as bad as the Khali/Batisat finish which was just Khali getting DQ'd when he whacked Batista with a chair, again fine for tv, but just shouldn't happen when people like me pay $40. In a sense that finish didn't bother me as much since I was expecting a craptacular match with Batista involved.

Cena/Orton was pretty good, not great since the first half of the match was booooring with too many damn headlocks as I had more fun watching the fans entertain themselves in the background with funky poses than watching the match. Rey vs. Chavo was match of the night in my book, as Rey just had a really good comeback from his 8 month break and looks like he is going to be rocking in the air yet again. Overall I would give the PPV a 6 out of 10, on the low end of satisfying, but should of been way better considering WWE considers this the second biggest PPV of the year.

-All I got far ya today, latez!
