-Hey hey all! Just finished up the work week this morning, and got another day of class left this week, and now am on my first day off and am tired as hell right now. Yaaay.
-So I think I'm gonna just ramble about how I spent my last few days off. Last week I spent one day hanging out with Matt & Danielle, and I brought my 360 over with a bunch of demos and games since Matt said he never got a chance to play one. I know Matt loves RPG games so I brought over my two demo discs that had demos of Blue Dragon & Eternal Sonatra on there. He seemed to really like both of those and said whenever he does get a 360 he'll make sure to pick up both of those games. We then did co-op through the first chapter of Gears of War much to his liking, and then I let him monkey around in Tony Hawk's Project 8 for awhile before calling it a day.
After that I met up with Steve, and I finally got around to doing what I wanted to have been doing for every Thursday night for awhile now.......KARAOKE!!!!! Yes, I love Karaoke, but due to my insane sleep and work pattern haven't been able to hit up karaoke in 3 years. Now that I have Thursdays off I found a bar in town that does feature karaoke and Steve and I tore it up. First up I sang "Celebration" and was really nervous and off key since I just got there and I completely defined karaoke by boming the song. We watched some of the other people go and Steve and I polished off a pitcher of brew in the meanwhile, after which I told Steve if he goes up and sing a song I'll buy another pitcher of beer. So Steve went up and sang "Crazy Train" and later I went up and sang "Any Way You Want It" which I felt did at least a little better on. This one gal said I did a great job, but she was really hammered so I didn't want to believe here. Finally I finished off the night when Steve and I both got up there and sang "I want to Rock and Roll all night!" All and all a very grand night of karaoke which I definitely plan on doing again very soon.
-Other night off I hung out with Chris and Scott and we played a bunch of Guitar Hero, and that was pretty much that. Chris continues to get a little better and is starting to nab away my high scores. Sooooooooo unfair.
-Several days ago I Joey actually DM'd a dungeons and dragons game with us, and Charles and Jake. Joe said he never DM'd before but said he wanted to get right into the action and load up the story like how Joe said Scott was doing.....and go right into the action he did. After we created our guys, Joey started us right in a dungeon, and after asking him "wait a second....what's our purpose being here...gimme a little background to lemme know why we're tearing up this cave?" Joe paused for a brief moment and responded "Um....you're here to find this girl, now where are you going to move?" It was fun going throught that dungeon and all, but Joe takes things a bit too lightly and it didn't feel as immersive like when Scott DM'd. But enough about my D&D geekiness.
-On labor day, the family was BBQ'ing and told me to bring some friends along so I brought Chris and we had a good ol BBQ. Good times and food. Afterward on way back home Chris and I saw this place in town that recently opened, "Grand Cities Gaming." A hobby/game store that sells a lot of tabletop and collectable card game stuff. Looked pretty cool, and I recall Rich telling me before he goes there a bit for Magic tournaments. Might have to check out that place again for people to DnD with.
-Today I hung out with Matt & Danielle, and we took a trip down to Fargo. Matt is huge into collecting figures (he has quite the collection), and while looking at Toys R Us I picked up a "Fury" line Sabu figure, they are the "realistic" line of WWE figures, and Sabu's one just looked badass. Also at Rock 30 I ended up finally picking up Final Fantasy Chronicles on PSone, for being several years old I was surprised the jewel case and the discs were all in like new condition. It set me back $30, and who knows when I'll make time for it, but I hear great things about both games, and one day....one day I will make time for them all. We stopped by Rock 30 earlier that day too and Matt was like "after we come back from Fargo I'm gonna come back and pick up Breath of Fire IV for PSone since I got all the other BoF games" and sure enough when we get back it was sold. That ever happen to anyone?
-So I decided I'm going to sell my Nintendo Wii the other day. I offered it to both Dick and Matt since I know both of them are considering the buying the system and showed em the sheet of everything I'm selling which cost me $580, and I'm offering it to either of them for $375 which I plan to put forward toward all the awesome holiday games I want like Halo 3, Guitar Hero 3, Rock Band, Eternal Sonatra, and Army of Two. Yeah, I haven't played the Wii in a good 3 or 4 months nor have I even been compelled to turn it on. I feel bad for not even starting Zelda yet (it's still in its wrapping!), but I'll just pick up the Cube version of Twighlight Princess instead. I downloaded a few Virtual Console games too but I'm just not going back to them like I thought I would. I can see myself rebuying the system for the future but I think I'm just gonna stick with a 360 for now, and catch up on old GCN/DS/PS2/PSone games as kinda my way of skimping out on the PS3.
-tiz all for now...latez!
