-Hey hey. How goes it everyone. I am in the middle of yet another exhilarating week of class and work.
-Sooooo, last week I got out of class early and was all "yeah, get to go home and pass out early!"....not so much because while minding my own business waiting for a light to turn green I my driver side rear end got clipped by a damn truck who was switching into the turning lane. Turned out the bar used to pull down the tail gate of the truck was sticking out and the handle totally knocked out my tail light and caused some scrappage. So I had to exchange insurance and all that fun crap, but since it was his fault his insurance his covering all the costs thank goodness. Just a little paint scrapes means they gotta repain the entire left box of my pickup, which means the place gets to hold my vehicle for 3 whole days. Yay...or something, and this all happened cuz I got outta class early!!!
-So I attended to my first UND football game of the season. Tiz the Sioux's last season as Division II NCAA, and we make the allmighty leap into 1-AA next season, and that means hopes of getting included in the always growing roster of 1-AA teams in EA's NCAA football game. Anywho, the Sioux face Central Washington and it was a great game, nonstop scoring, lots of big plays. Sioux ended up winning in a close one down to the very end, 35-28. Most impressive was the running back who set a school record with over 300 rushing yards in a single game.
-8 more days until Halo 3!!!! Past few days it really sank in that the ultimate release for the 360 is upon us, and I am just super hyped for the game. So hyped in fact, my latest podcast is just a massive preview for it I dubbed the Halo 3 hype-tacular....if you wanna hear all about it, right click and save on this link.
-So yesterday I had a WWE Unforgiven PPV party. A couple less people showed up compared to Summerslam, but still a good turnout with Joey, Jake, Charles, Dick, Dave, Ryan, and Whitney showing up. PPV was ok overall. It felt like it started off going good with match progression, but never got past second gear. The ECW title match was a good opener, but goddam rollup finish (just watch Punk/Burke will have a damn awesome Extreme Rules match on Sci Fi this Tuesday) Smackdown Tag Title match was good comedy for what it was, ditto with HHH/Carlito (tho I was expecting more). Cena/Orton had a total BS finish, I understand how Cena was pissed and all, but they shoulda made it no holds barred, and then right after to have Coach announce a Last Man Standing match for RAW made it seem that match was just a waste of my money. Taker's return was good for what it was, I joked to everyone before hand that since it was Taker's return he was going to have an all out entrance (and he sure did!) and that his entrance would be longer than the actual match. Turned out his entrance was 5 and a half minutes, but the match wasn't as long and went 11 and a half. Henry is big and slow, but for a big guy can do some more impactful moves unlike Khali. Speaking of Khali, I am surprised to say it ended up my match of the night, pretty much the last few minutes of it anyways with all the great spots with Batista powerbombing Rey on top of Khali, than just tossing him to the side like he's nothing and giving Khali a spinebuster for the pin. Awesomeness. Overall though, a disappointing PPV, I'd rate a 5/10.
-Holy shit, I think it has been a good 5 or 6 seasons since the 49ers started off 2-0. I'll give them two huzzah's for that.....huzzah! Granted, both were very close nailbiters, but a win's a win and I'm gonna cheris this brief moment where they are on top of the NFC West! Gore...Gore...Gorrrrrrre!
-I know how some people hate Gamestop, and I don't blame them for that with some of their policies and tendencies, but when you're practically friends with the managers with both stores, they just tend to rule. Case in point, I went in there last Friday to see if they had a used copy of madden 08 for 360 to see if I can save a few bones, they didn't so I was just BS'n with the clerks and talkin about how I'm lookin forward to Eternal Sonata coming out next week, and outta nowhere they gave me the preorder faceplate which I didn't even realize they were making. Then they had a bunch of other swag they gave me like a Skate shirt, and a some mousepad. So yeah, sometimes Gamestop can be cool.
Speaking of Madden 08, I went to Target afterward and decided just to get it new with my discount, I didn't wanna pay $58 for it after recently buying All-Pro 2K8, but decided to give in. When I was about to buy it, I remembered I won a $25 DVD voucher at work lately and asked if I could just put that towards Madden instead, and even got my discount on top of that, so instead of paying $58, I ended up getting Madden 08 for 360 for just $30 new. Huzzah! And I played a round of Madden 08 with Joey yesterday. It was great, the 60 fps framerate makes a big difference from previous 360 versions, which weren't really choppy by any means, but this one just feels so natural with its animations that it almost seems like a new game. By the way, I totally dominated Joey with my Niners, 56-7.
-So just a couple hours ago I looked at the games I currently have on reserve at Gamestop and the other games I plan on getting before the end of the year, and of course the list is huge as it usually is every holiday year. All but one of these games are for the 360. Ones I have on reserve are Eternal Sonata, Halo 3 ($70 version), and Mass Effect. The other ones I want and plan on reserving are Scene It, Flatout - Ultimate Carnage, Smackdown vs RAW 2008, Guitar Hero 3, Rock Band (w/drums), NBA 2K8, and FirePro Wrestling Returns (PS2). Damn that's gonna be a lot of money to blow.
Longtime readers of my blog might recall how I was gaga for the two previous FlatOut games, they released a demo of Ultimate Carnage that I have been playing a lot of lately, and Demolition Derby events are a ton more fun now. Scene It I always wanted to try and hear is a lot of fun, and is my way to play a casual game. Just gotta get Smackdown now cuz it's pretty much a yearly tradition for me. Halo 3.....uh, hello, it's freaking Halo 3. FirePro I'm pumped for because it's the first console FirePro game to ever be released in America, I have FirePro D for Dreamcast and that rules, but man is it hard going through the menus, even with my English character select save. NBA 2K series I usually buy every other year, last one I own is 2k5, and I usually have lots of tournaments of this game with Rich.
Eternal Sonata is unique because I usually am not one to run out and RPGs when they're new cuz I have no time for them, but I had a lot of fun with the demo so I'm gonna see if I can make it happen. Mass Effect is just gonna rule. Finally for the 2 music games, I was just gonna get Rock Band cuz I plan on playing it with all instruments and the song list was just killer, but then Guitar Hero 3 announced it had Metallica's "One" in its setlist, and I was instantly sold on that amazingly awesome guitar solo alone.
-Tiz all for now, latez!
