Yes, so I made the big decision and decided to say goodbye to the Wii yesterday. The very same console I waited 7 hours in line for, ended up going to Gamestop. Why? Well, there is a number of reasons. I just couldn't commit to it. I looked at the calendar for the Wii, and noticed I only turned it on twice in the past 5 months, and that was just to see what was out on the Virtual Console.
The Wii does have some games I want coming out on it like Mario Kart and Smash Bros., but other friends I know for sure will be getting those games and one day I will eventually play them. It just doesn't seem like that big of a loss to me.
The main reason I traded it in though is because I could use it for trade in credit towards all the games I want coming out the rest of the year. I ended up getting $310 in store credit (and that was with 40% bonus on my games and accessories) and I used it to pay off Eternal Sonata and put a bunch of credit towards other 6 other reserves (Guitar Hero 3, Rock Band ultimate bundle, NBA 2K8, Flatout, Scene It, Smackdown 08).
Which brings up another point, with so many awesome games coming out (and countless others to catch up on in my backlog), I pretty much can only commit to one platform for this gen. I'm tired of seeing many games just sit on my shelf without even being played once.
When I was packing up the Wii box, I discovered a $1 tucked away in there....that was the most value I got out of that system yet :D . So long Wii, we hardly knew ya......except that marble game was kinda cool.
