-Hey hey everybody. Another week, another day.....or something. October is freaking flying by, and it's just a week until Halloween and I got nothing going on...but work........DAMN! Oh well, at least I'll be going to a supposedly awesome Ozzy/Zombie duo concert just a couple days before.

-So life has been allright. Classes have been going by surprisingly nicely without making all that much effort outside of class, as long as I regularly attend classes and not pass out during them, I have been managing just fine. For example, I thought I was screwed for a recent Humanities exam which I thought was a couple days later as I only managed to prepare for about half the exam by that point and the other half were just random educated guesses on my part. Get the exam back, and found out somehow...someway I got an 81%, which is a low B, so huzzah for my amazing guessing capabilities! I registered for my next semester classes already the first day registration was available. All 4 of my Journalism elective-specific classes were available, though 3 of them were available for the first time at this campus that I can remember my 2 1/2 years enrolled there thus far....those being Creative Writing, Mass Communications, and Technical Writing. Actually, Creative Writing was offered once before and I was enrolled in it, but it was cancelled at the last minute due to low enrollment.....better not happen again!

-So yesterday was my first day back at Gamestop for the holiday season again....the 4th straight holiday season I am helping out, and just like last year I am only working just one day a week for just a few hours. Relearning the till came by pretty easy and they got some new software which makes processing reserves and subs seem somewhat easier. Even though just working once a week adds to the already craziness of my typical weekly schedule, it is still a blast with some really cool co-workers and just generally a good atmosphere there and it is a nice breather from what all else is going on. This is an example of how every Tuesday will be for me now until Christmas: Wake up at 5pm, get to Gamestop at 6pm, work there until 9 or 9:30 pm, go to Target from 10pm until 6:30 or 7am, then class Wendesday morning from 8am until 1pm and finally pass out with honor by 2pm! I rule!!!

-My days off last week went by pleasently. On Thursday Scott & Chris came over and we played a shitload of Guitar Hero 2 and got Scott some achievements, and then recorded our latest podcast where we reviewed Halo 3 and previewed Rock Band & Guitar Hero 3. That's right I said review Halo 3, because earlier that day I beat it in co-op on Heroic with Scott, which made Halo 3 game #14 I have completed this year thus far! one more away from achieving my revised goal (up from my original 12)! I may rent Stranglehold as I wanted to plow through that since I had fun with that demo, or Army of Two when that oomes out as I know a few peeps getting it.

On Friday I made the trek down to Fargo to hang out with Matt & Danielle. We frequented Best Buy that day and Matt got a ton of movies, and I bought........the Dead or Alive DVD! I saw that flick awhile back and was surprised by how good it was......by videogame movie standards of course :D Look forward to a DVD roundtable on my next podcast. Anyways I did another movie marathon that night with Matt, here is what we saw, and my thought.....

Blades of Glory - Damn you Will Ferell. I feel ashamede to admit I liked this slightly better than Talledega Nights. Dunno, guess it just doesn't feel as insanely cheesy as it, but yeah, Ferell had an excellent supporting cast for this one which helped it out big time. Good to see the Coach back making some dough too. Go Golden Eagles!!! 7/10

Up in Smoke - The new remastered version, they did a great job with the transfer too. This is my first time seeing this, and for being 30 years old, it held up really good for the time. With a little bit of perspective sitting in, I can say this is prolly the ultimate pot-smoker movie, prolly surpassing Half-Baked and maybe...just maybe Harold & Kumar. Those jokes rule even 30 years gone. Now I gotta track this one down and get it. 8.5/10

Robocop - Extended Cut - Hellll yeah, it's freaking Robocop, the originall badass version, now uncut with more gore! This film was great for its time, and surprisingly still great today, I didn't think it'd hold up as good but I was digging every minute! The "ill buy that for a dollar" guy is so damn lame he rules. God bless you Robocop, may you keep us safe for many years to come! 8/10

Ong-Bak: Tai Warrior - New Kung-Fu release, and helll yeah does it kickass. I won't even try to describe all the crazy action except for seeing a bunch of dudes beat the crap out of each other in the beginning as they climb up a tree for a bandana, and for the few kung-fu movies I saw, this one actually has a pretty decent story. 8/10

-So I played a lot of demos on 360 a week or two back to get caught up on the recent flood that hit the marketplace....here are some quick impressions....

Simpsons Game - Looked amazing in HD, perhaps even better than the film dare I say, but beating the Lard Lad boss was quite the task, not really all that hard, just took way too long.

Jericho - I'm not as down on this as others were, but I dug the story and the character-swapping action-horror FPS gameplay I felt was pulled off pretty well. Demoo came to a kind of abrupt end, but this will definitely be a game I will check out some time down the road.

Tony Hawk's Proving Ground - Another Tony Hawk game....yeah.......I dunno, this one just seemed a little tone down and not as gripping as Project 8 was, then again I only played it for about 20 minutes, but I went away feeling surprisingly underwhelmed. I usually get Hawk games every other year anyways, so it's prolly a good thing I skip this one.

Timeshift - Now this game has been in developer purgatory for awhile, but the demo I felt was pretty fun, though I did get stuck about halfway through. Pretty much use time-altering powers to pause, and rewind time to progress through levels, like enter a room filled with enemies, pause time and throw a grenade and unpause it right then....did feel kind of cheap though, but again, this is another one I'll prolly rent down the line.

Call of Juarez - I played this one a bit late, but I was meaning to play it forever, and it seemed like a good dose old-westen FPS fun. Again, I'll wait to get way down the line when it's dirt cheap and I have a plethora of free time.

Guitar Hero 3 - It's Guitar Hero. Felt a lot like more of the same kickass, and not all that different from before considering now Neversoft is developing, except on Medium difficulty now it seems like you got a little more window of oppurtunity to hit the notes. This comes out next week, and it should keep me pleasently occupied until Rock Band launches a month later.

Virtua Fighter 5 - Looks awesome, same killer fluid fighting from VF4 that I really liked. Don't think I'll get it because of its intese learning curve for all the fighters, in 4 I spent forever learning just Wolf and after beating my friend for the first time who was the only other person I knew who played VF at the time he then refused to play me. Though VF5 will be online, and I was addicted to the DOA4 community for the first several months of the 360 lifecycle, but I think I'll just have to sit this game out........maybe :D

Project Gotham Racing 4 - Ahh, Bizarre's last racer for Microsoft. I liked PGR3 but never really got around to investing as much time as I wanted with it, but this demo seemed like more of same hybrid of sim/arcade controls that I liked in the third game. It looked freaking amazing on my HD set, especially the cockpit view which became my gameplay camera of choice. So much good stuff coming out this year, but once I see it on the cheap, it'll be an insta-buy for me.

.....interesting.......students across from me in this cubicle study area of campus are talking about bringing in their broken 360s to UPS and how the UPS clerks were saying it's like the 50th one they got this month.....Damn you Microsoft for making the faultiest system known to man!!!!!

-I started Chris Jericho's autobiography yesterday. Am through the first three chapters thusfar, and it is a very good three chapters. Jericho just has this awesome way of expressing himself so far where it seems like life is a party to him and he is enjoying every minute of it.......and I am only up to where he's talking about his high school bands and trying to shape up for wrestling. It's a shame though this only goes up through his WCW career as it looks like he is saving the sequel book for his WWE career.....that is so un-Y2J of him, respect your Jericho-holics Chris!

-Tiz all I got for now, Latez!
