-Hey heyyyy all. Little later than usual weekly update from me, just been hella busy with work, class and all that jazz. Thanksgiving is approaching which is my favorite holiday of the year where the whole family gathers around for the best meal of the year and no worrying of who's buying who what and who didn't spend enough on so and so. Top it off with conversing with family I don't usually get to visit as often and throw in a football game, and mad black friday sales to catch the next day and you can't go wrong.
-So last week I had separated days off with one day being for the Ozzy concert I raved about in my last entry and the other day I hung out with Scott & Chris. We did a marathon where we beat the co-op career mode in Guitar Hero 3, then we watched Dead or Alive movie again, which was my third time seeing it again cause Scott didn't see it yet. Immediately afterward we recorded a podcast discussing the movie alongside the controversial Jarrod of the Playstation Nation Podcast. The film got quite the discussion out of us as probably the best awesomely bad videogame flick of all time. click here to download the episode.
For the rest of the weekend I spent a great deal of time playing Stranglehold on 360, which I rented. I somehow barely made enough time to complete the game (which made Stranglehold the 15th game I have completed this year, thus achieving the new goal I set for myself a couple months back!) in my rental period of 4 days, took me approximately 9-10 hours to beat it on normal difficulty, and it felt like the perfect challenge for me on that setting. The game was a blast and reminded a lot of Dead to Rights and Max Payne, but brings its own flare to the genre by having introducing a slew of crazy moves and mechanics for Mr. Tequila where he'll automatically slide across tables and do the crazy slow motion jump off walls, rails, you name it and to top it off it has a very immersive story by being the sequel to the hit action flick, Hard Boiled, and it even has Chow Yun-Fat in the game. I had a blast with this game for the 4 days I had it, but I wouldn't recomment buying it, the time you'll have with the rental/gamefly is all you'll need. Be on the lookout for my review for all the little details.
-I am now in the middle of my new set of days off. Yesterday I made the drive down to Fargo to hang out with Matt & Danielle. We ate at the always awesome Royal Fork Buffett, and then gamed it up for the rest of the night. They helped me finish off the last tier of songs in the career mode of Guitar Hero 3 (I can't remember if I counted Guitar Hero 2 and 80s GH as a game I completed, but now since GH3 has "boss battles" and they are a bitch, I will count it as the official 16th completed game of the year (maybe 18 including both of the GH games....do you guys think they're worth including to my list?)!. FYI, I completed it on medium, and 5 starred every song, only one I had trouble 5 starring was the Slayer song, which took me 4 tries to achieve. Next up, Hard mode.
I also rented the Simpsons game and brought that over to play since it had co-op mode, but the co-op sucks as the game has a very crappy camera which is a pain to control, and by having split screen co-op it just makes it more of a pain to manage. And the platforming is very generic and sometimes boring (though there are a few fun parts to it), so within 10 minutes we switched it back to single player and just took turns every so often, and by the end of the 4th level ("episode") we were ready to move on. I am going to try to beat it though as the Simpsons fan service is through the roof with lots of voice dialogue from the entire Simpsons cast and lots of unique animated cut scenes too which were a hoot to watch.
-I saw Downhill Domination for PS2 used for PS2 and picked it up for $10. Always wanted to try it out but never saw it anywhere until now as downhill mountainbike racing with the ability to punch fellow bikers off Road Rash-style sounds very appealing to me. Didn't get a chance to try it out yet......anyone here play it so far?
-So to continue the videogame thoughts, it is the middle of the Christmas season which means a shitload of good games are coming out. Thank goodness for trading in the Wii which put a lot towards these games or else I'd be dead broke by now. I had Scene-It on reserve as it is a fun little casual game I think would have playing with some friends as a nice breather inbetween the heavy intense rounds of trying to set new high scores in GH or fragging my heart away in Halo 3, but the demo left me a little skeptical and I was just very reluctant going in to pick it up, and after reading many raving reviews and recommendations from the Gamestop clerks (that I actually know pretty well and have similar gaming preferances as me), I decided to pick up Call of Booty....errr Call of Duty 4. Didn't get a chance to check it out yet, maybe tonight. In the next 2 weeks, the last four of my pre-orders will be coming in too with FirePro Wrestling Returns on PS2, and on the 360 with Smackdown vs. RAW 2008, Mass Effect, and Rock Band. Um, yeah I'll have a lot of killer stuff to play through for awhile.
There are also a lot of really good DVD releases coming out within the next month also. I'll prolly pick up the 9th season of Seinfeld to complete my collection, as well as Die Hard, Superbad...maybe Daywatch..., and a few others that are slipping my mind right now. On the wrestling DVD side of things, Wrestling Society X's first & final season is out next week, Triumphs & Tragedies of WCCW is next month, hell even John Cena's DVD set looks mighty appealing because WWE does a damn good job on their retrospectives and it has all of the few gerat Cena matches on there.
-Speaking of wrestling, it has been ok lately, it was nice seeing Stone Cold back and giving Santino that Stunner he worked so hard to earn. DX coming back for a night was a nice touch too as long as they don't go overboard again in the future like they did with the last year's DX run. ECW has been pretty decent, now that they got Smackdown stars regularly mixing it up with the ECW talent it gives the show some very needed fresh match-ups. CM Punk and Morrison also delivered a very solid match yet again. I missed a lot of TNA and Smackdown rencently due to VCR technical difficulties, but I think I worked them out and should have them set to record again this weekend. I am almost through another Ring of Honor DVD, All-Star Extravaganza 2007, which has been kicking ass like most ROH releases. This one featured a crazy ass whiff from one of the Briscoes who looked like he nearly killed himself with his Shooting Star Press to the outside arena floor. I am so behind on a lot of other DVDs and WWE 24/7 material I need to watch though lately.....maybe Christmas break I can get somewhat caught up.
-That about wraps it up for this week's entry. Tiz all for now. Later!
