-Hello everybody! The weather has been remarkably shitty as of late! If it's not 20-25 below zero, then there's a ton of snow going on. I've been managing it allright up until about a week or two ago when it finally got to be enough. For awhile I was feeling, "I'm going to embrace winter, and accept the traditional abundance of snow and bitter cold" but now I am all for having it be finished as swiftly as possible.

-Class has been going ok lately, got a B on my first Biology exam I was nervous as hell for. Studied a good two hours for it, which is a bit for me, and I have to study preferably day of the exam since I am horrible at remembering each and every little morsel of info. 3 class sessions were cancelled this week cause of the crazy weather, 2 of which I noticed at the last second. At least yesterday, even though there was no class, the commons were having free lunch for V-Day, so at least I served some purpose going to college that day.

-Speaking of remembering every little morsel of info, long time readers of my blog will recall me mentioning last May participating in Ryan's short film where he had to film 7 minute max short film within 48 hours. He never got around to putting it on youtube, but now the company that hosts the competition has put all contest entries on their website, and you view our amazingly crappy sci-fi epic, "Time Peace." It's about time-travelling, assassins, now you know that's money! If you don't know what I look like, just get a good look at my LJ avatar, and I'm the one wearing blue flannel, so there you go. Enjoy! Click here to watch the short film

-I completed my third game of the year, Conan! I called in on the latest Team Fremont Live episode and mentioned it, and I was questioned in my taste in quality. I'll admit Conan isn't a great game by any means, but it's not half-bad, a pretty decent, mindless hack 'n slasher!

-So I decided to take the plunge and save up three weeks worth of plasma donation money for the 120gb hard drive, just the past month I've been doing a lot of micromanaging on that thing to ensure there is usually a gig free, and with so much awesome Rock Band content always readily available, that precious space is filling up faster than I anticipated. I think I only filled up half of my original Xbox's 8gb hard drive, and I used that thing a lot for ripped music, and downloaded plenty of content too. Oh well. Damn you MS and your extremely high prices. The 20gb drive should retail for $50 instead of $100, and the 120gb drive sweet spot I feel is $100. It makes no sense to have a drive retail now for $100, and to have one six times larger in space retail for just $80 more.

-I have been playing plenty of Rock Band with Chris and Scott past couple of weeks. We have been making decent progress I feel, we're just got the sound guy on our team, and we're going to be looking for bodyguards next. Also have started up first couple levels of Twisted Metal: Head On for PS2, I recall the PSP version and thinking back "this would rule on a Dual Shock, as it is, it sucks controlling with the analog nub" and so it is no surprise that I am totally digging Head-On, makes me want to go back and revisit Black. If anyone has it, make sure to watch that bonus documentary, very well produced with lots of handy info, and very entertaining. Lastly, I've been playing Devil May Cry 4, that just came in from Gamefly, not too far in, mission 3.....dunno if I really like it or not, last DMC I played was the original, and now in 4 things just feel repetitive, hopefully the action will pick up more when I unlock more moves....we'll see.

-So a local bar in town started a weekly Guitar Hero tournament for the next month last week. For the next couple weeks every Thursday will be qualifying rounds, they got competitions for Medium, Hard, and Expert difficulty levels. Players can re-enter on the same difficulty level only if they're not satisfied with their scores, and can only play once each week up until around mid-March when the Semis start. I entered last night and went to it with Chris and Steve, and I know for sure I am re-entering next week. Chris did ok, he got 91% on Medium, I forget the song though, the judges told him he look like a statue and should've rocked out some more. Steve however made sure to rock out big time, he wore my crappy Hulk Hogan wig I wore to the Midwest Gaming Classic last year, and he looked damn near like Izzy Sparks! He got 96% on his medium difficulty song and moved to the semis!

I am a pansy and picked Medium skill, and I was the 3rd from last person to get picked to play, so by that point the $4 pitchers were starting to kick in pretty good, to make matters worse the song I drew to play was Slayer's "Raining Blood" the only song I couldn't five star on my first try in the Medium career, and combine that with a pretty good buzz, I didn't fair all that well......88%. I did get 7 and 8s from the judges though for style points. You were graded for style if you went in costume, and rocked out on stage.....Chris had a trench coat and brought it over saying "you'll look like Silent Bob up there!" so I guess that got me some points. Very fun time though, and I can't wait to participate again next week. Here is a crappy cell phone pic Chris sent me of me jamming out.

-Tiz all for now, latez!
