-Hey Yo! I'm going to jump right into the thick of things and as I alluded to coming close last week, I finally finished game #6 of 2008, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney (DS). I approximated roughly 25 hours of total play time, with a good 12 hours alone dedicated to the final case. Pretty satisfied with the game though, and *both* endings, but as I stated in my last entry, the way that final case kept going I was ready for the judge's final gavel.

I already started up Hotel Dusk, and am about a little under an hour in where I just got my into the ever-dreaded room 215. Definitely liking the story, and the style of the Hotel Dusk thusfar, especially the BioWare-esque conversation choices that change how the game plays out. I mouthed off early to that girl on the stairwell, just to be a jerk and get her out of Mr. Hyde's way, and soon enough the hotel owner confronted me and told me to get the hell out of the the Hotel, and then was suprisingly prompted with a game over screen.

-Last week, after a good three months I finally finished up Chuck Palahnuick's latest novel, Rant. The "oral biography" style of the book was a fresh perspective I'm not use to in novels, and off the top of my head I can't relate it to many films, but the way how Buster Rant's life is told via interviews from his friends, family, and peers reminds me a little bit of The Office. Ending didn't sit in with me that great, but perhaps a future reread can remedy the peculiar ending, which is usually how most of Palahnuick's novels wrap up. The next book I started up was Twin Galaxies' Guinness Gamer Edition 2007. From what I read so far, it's pretty much what you think, an annual for the year in gaming 2007, along with some past historical summaries and factoids that I always find fascinating. For example, I recall the N64's last US game being Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3, but I was unaware it had an extremely low print run of just under 300 copies. Additionally, it's no mystery the PS2 has had a ton of videogame released for it. In the US alone, as of the book's printing near the end of last year, the PS2 has over 1000 games released for it, take a guess at how many are out in Japan? No joke, the book stated over 5000!

-My buddy Scott came over a couple times this past week and we got in a solid amount of gaming during those sessions. In Rock Band, after 1100 hard-earned stars, we finally got our band, One Eyed Buffalo inducted into the Band World Tour Hall of Fame (however we still got clear out a lot of remaining gigs). We also finished act two (of three, I think) of Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance. We also played a couple rounds of Madden NFL 2008, and Scott wasted me in two games, and totally ran away with both games in the 4th quarter.

Besides enjoying all those co-operative and competitive games, I've been making some progress in single player games too. In GTAIV I've cleared around 25 missions, with that damn "Snow Storm" mission from Elizabetha taking about a good five or six tries. I also finished act three of Eternal Sonata, and slight spoiler ahead, I think I may have witnessed video games' most drawn out death scene of all time. I also made some more progress in Oblivion, and am dreading the next quest I have to endure, which is where I have to close practically every Oblivion gate in Tamriel.

-My sister Ann graduated from college last week, she has a....what is....LN or RN or something like that in nursing. Congratulatations to her. She is going to make an awesome nurse. Our family threw her a smashing open house, which some nasty wind nearly ruined that day. Surprise, nasty wind in super-flat, North Dakota.

-It has been a while since I have seen any of the original Indiana Jones films. I remember little bits and pieces of them all growing up, but I do recall liking them. So I saw Indiana Jones 4 a couple days ago with my brother, and other than a few scenes where I was struggling to suspend disbelief, and the fact the film has Shia LaBeouf featured in it, it wasn't all that bad. I managed to avoid most previews for this, so I was a little surprised to see the Indiana Jones crossover into more sci-fi sort of materia with Roswell, Area 51, aliens, and stuff of that nature. Overall, not that bad, but not all that memorable.

-On WWE 24/7 I recently viewed WCW Slamboree 2000, yes I'm talking about the one that featured David Arquette as WCW World Champion in a triple decker cage main event. If that statement alone doesn't give you an idea for how crazy and messed up WCW was at this point, then look at the rest of what the show had to offer. Terry Funk vs. Norman Smiley in a hardcore match with the worst mystery partner of all time! Billy Kidman having a fairly competitive match with Hulk Hogan. Veteran Hugh Morrus, renaming himself Hugh G. Rection, and more!

In other wrasslin' news, I finished up the PW Torch interview DVD set with Matt & Jeff Hardy. Matt Hardy's interview the last one I needed to watch, and it was nearly twice as long (1 hour 45 minutes, vs just under an hour for Jeff). The last hour was spent on the whole Edge/Lita/Matt love triangle fiasco, and as odd as it was being intrigued with who was banging who in the wrestling world, Matt's then raw emotions painted a colorful and vivid picture of each day to day happening.

Matt is more calm and reflective on his take on the love triangle on the newly released WWE 2-disc set: Twist of Fate - The Matt & Jeff Hardy Story. I finished this up last week too, where both Matt and Jeff get their own documentary (both are right around an hour in length), along with several bonus matches. Matt's feature focuses more on the earlier and glory days of the Hardy Boyz, along with highs and lows in his singles career. Jeff's focuses a little bit on his earlier work, a bit more on his singles run in the last several years and a lot about the unique nature of his artistic world he lives. I would say the PW Torch DVD set is far more insightful, but the WWE set is a nice way to supplement that piece by having the trademark high quality WWE production values, and a fair amount of bonus matches in their entirety. It is worth noting that this was produced shortly before Jeff got suspended for failing a drug test (and his house burning down mere days later to boot!), and it is painfully ironic for Jeff to close out the documentary on his disc saying "The future looks bright!"

-That's all I have for now. Later!
